v and dwr were sure more video content would save farcaster. i can no longer find my cast, but i argued against it.
the average internet user doesn’t even know what “blockchain” means, let alone care about crypto. platforms like tiktok, instagram, and facebook cater to people who just want seamless content and entertainment, not blockchain jargons.
even if farcaster somehow captured just 1/4 of tiktok or instagram’s daily active users, would it even be able to scale fast enough to handle that level of traffic? we already saw a scaled down version of this during the recent NFT-driven spike led by fc user streetphoto (i think). i currently wear the pfp on my x profile. and even then, peak daily active users were under 500k or thereabout
i think blockchain technology is still pretty much niche, highly technical and it’s not exactly enticing to an average human. it needs some getting used to. the barrier of entry is still quite hard. as human, we’re innately attracted to simplicity. anyway bye
