Valentine’s Day is meant to celebrate love, life, and being together.
But this year, for many Iranian families, it is not a day of celebration. It is a day of mourning.
So many innocent people were killed. Each of them was someone’s child, partner, friend,or beloved, people who should have been alive today, celebrating this day side by side with those they loved. Instead a dictatorial clerical regime turned their Valentine’s Day into grief and silence.
Flowers were replaced with funerals. Smiles were replaced with tears. The very day that should have been about love and togetherness became a reminder of loss and injustice.
Yet their memory will not fade. Love cannot be crushed by repression, and the demand for freedom and dignity cannot be buried by violence.
This Valentine’s Day, we remember the lives stolen too soon, and we stand with the families who carry their love, and their pain, every single day.
