The Mask I’ve Worn Since Birth
Depression is not something to be underestimated. Some people naturally lean toward sadness, and when this combines with depression, it can take an overwhelming amount of energy to cope.
Even after this depression and sorrow have eased, the mask of pessimism (shaped by real hardships and daily pressures, especially in the Middle East) can still remain.
The ongoing struggle to free oneself from this mask of depression and lack of motivation is a difficult, painful, and exhausting daily battle. This daily fight is hard, but it is a part of being human, perhaps not the part we love, but the part that shapes who we are.
