Strandbeesten, or Beach Beasts are creatures created by Dutch artist Theo Jansen from PVC pipes. They are enormous structures that can move like animals, and have their natural habitat on the Dutch beaches.
They move independently, powered by the wind, which is always present on the Dutch coast. The project started in 1990 and has grown out since then.
We stumbled upon the Strandbeest bone yard the other day, and even got to play with some of them.
A fresh Fernweh Files poem. This time in Dutch, inspired by a visit to the lovely city of Delft.
We had fries in the House of Fries, a small shop just off the Markt in Delft. They had a wall covered in wooden chips with art on them. You can buy a chip by donating 50 cents to the Ronald McDonald House charities.
Ideal for my poésies éphémère collection of poetry coins.

Tell me a spicy thing you did this year, whether you are proud of it or not 🌶️
I go second: I was board member in an association that raised 40K euro for charity, launched a couple of clanker and finally went to the eye doctor to see if I can get my eye fixed, after postponing that for a few years.
