If Farcaster is a failure, than sign me up for failing too!
I agree that scaling is difficult, and maybe not difficult but slower than wished for. But, the potential is still enormous. Sometimes things don't go the way you want, but they do go the way they do. I think it's a great thing when a founder knows when to hand over a project. Letting go of something you raised from scratch is not easy.
Imo the sale of Farcaster to Neynar changed a number of things that increase the chance that Farcaster will continue to exist in the longer term:
- the $180M burden of investors is gone (there are still investors, but for a lower amount);
- with services for mini app builders Neynar has a broader base to get revenue from;
- with the second bullet TBA isn't a competitor anymore, but an opportunity for selling more services to builders.
Imo the Farcaster sale is the end of a chapter, not the end of a book.
