Flannel Donut is a pioneering hybrid project at the intersection of award-winning stop-motion animation, artisanal food culture, and community finance—built on film3 rails and now, officially supported by Base.
Nestled in the heart of Downtown Portland’s Pearl District, our concept unites a public facing stop-motion animation set with a café, tap room, event space and screening room. It is indeed a 30,000 sq ft creative playground for builders, creators and makers shaping the future every single day.
The studio launched the $STOPMO token to seed a long-term liquidity pool supporting sustainable animation production; a gamified loop driven by in-store activity and community participation that grows the ecosystem every month.
Welcome to Flannel Donut—where cinematic storytelling, handcrafted indulgence, and blockchain collide in the center of Portland’s creative scene.

We’re building a stop-motion animation studio and a cafe, taproom, events space and screening room-- all under one roof. Separated by industry. United by vision. Supported by Base, funded by the people, onchain and IRL, blending the two every single day.
Our studio café is located in a major landmark in Downtown Portland’s Pearl District. We’re building a cultural engine where regulars and tourists can sip curated coffee, bite into next-gen donuts, and literally watch our award-winning team bring stories to life.
With an open-concept café overlooking the live animation stage—viewable from multiple sides, including a catwalk—we’re creating a destination where story and culinary craft intersect. The concept is a defining expression of Portland’s creative identity and Base is the key to unlocking the new creator economy right here in our hometown.
Portland is the leading global hub for stop-motion animation and a top destination for indie film and artisanal food. Home to LAIKA, ShadowMachine, Bent Image Lab, and a thriving creative economy, the city’s animation industry generates over $100M annually, with $60M from stop-motion alone.
Portland’s coffee and donut ecosystem contributes over $300M in annual revenue, led by icons like Voodoo Doughnuts (~$14M) and Stumptown (~$100M). With nearly 90 independent roasters and a 10% annual growth rate in specialty coffee, these aren’t just morning rituals—they’re cultural engines.
The city attracts 9M+ annual visitors, fueling $5B in economic activity. Flannel Donut sits at the intersection of Portland’s two biggest cultural exports—animation and food—offering a hyper-local but globally relevant destination for regulars and tourists alike.

Guests can watch our Emmy and Oscar-winning team build sets and puppets and animate live, while enjoying locally roasted coffee and handcrafted donuts. After hours, the upstairs taproom offers local beer and wine, and our screening room features new work, festival events, and weekend community showcases.
From the catwalk above or nearly any seat in the café, guests can see the magic unfold: our stop-motion opossum mascot tearing through a tiny Portland set—down rain-soaked alleys, into hidden tunnels, and beyond. Along the way: moments for brands like yours to organically cameo inside the handcrafted story itself. Followers can view daily posts across all social channels, and even vote on what happens next. At the end of each week and month, viewers can see the longer story come to life.

Flannel Donut is founded and led by Emmy Award-winning Director Rob Shaw, alongside Webby nominated Pattern Integrity Films’ Kristen Kingsbury and Pippin Beard.
Our extended team includes:
Emmy & Oscar-winning animators from the movies and shows you love (Netflix, Nickelodeon, Adult Swim + more)
Pastry & coffee experts from James Beard-recognized kitchens
A network of collaborators across the blockchain experience
Foundational support from Base
At our core is our forward-thinking film3 studio specializing in story, animation, and blockchain-integrated content. We’ve spent years building in the film3 space, from producing our own films to building decentralized film tools and redefining indie cinema through community-driven systems. We also look forward to utilizing our taproom and screening room as event spaces to showcase, teach seminars and onboard others.
$STOPMO was a fair launch Base preclank on Farcaster, with an animated announcement short film supported by Clanker, launched to power the studio-café experience. It turns daily purchases into creative fuel—merch, limited edition production artifacts, hidden branded and gamified “easter eggs” in our animated content, and community contributions—all grow the ecosystem.
Transaction fees support new productions, and over time will help fund scholarships and experimental projects across the film3 community.

Year in Review: In Feb 2025, Flannel Donut became a thing. It started from a group of friends with decades in the film, tv and animation industry. We focused on producing real work, building a slick pipeline, and staying close to the people and stories that mattered 🧵
Shortly after producing a test spec ad for GameStop, we jumped into 5 weeks of production with long time friend @yaboynancy.base.eth who trusted us to take his story through a wild ride of 2D, claymation + stop motion paper-cut outs in a brilliant 8 minute pilot script https://twitter.com/yaboynancy/status/1910679378847060345/video/1
Around the same time, we launched a 6 part episodic about @sirrobrob.base.eth's childhood as a punk-ass bitch in Philly called You Play Too Much, and starring Fred Armisen https://twitter.com/YouPlayTM/status/1900675811210150358/video/1
Over the next few months we dropped three short films, each of them between 5 and 12 minutes in length: The Machine, Two Bottles (bts pictured) and The Lever Puller.

We’re creating the first Base supported animation studio café — a physical space where we craft our IP, build in public, and showcase what IRL onchain creativity looks like. To say we’re excited is a total understatement. The future is Based. Read on 👇 🟦

Great job my friend
This is huge — bringing onchain creativity into a real physical space is next-level. Can’t wait to see this come to life. The future is truly Based. 🟦🔥

Damn… this is a whole new prototype kicking off a new era. Everything else feels like cigarette smoke — loud for a second, then gone. This is the real thing, showing what onchain culture actually looks like IRL...
