One the biggest accomplishments this month was the success of Witrebel’s bgans.rock background removal machine. The end game here is to make all Bastards accepted in the current APIs used for bringing NFTs into the Metaverse.
The community really came together to achieve this triumph and removed the 8,656 backgrounds needed to really elevate our next Bastardverse Block Party. Here is their article on the process.

Rosco Kalis and his dad have released their Imperfections collection on Art Blocks. They aim to “recreate the human touch in digital art, the imperfection.” Collectors of the NFT are also eligible to purchase a physical replica of their Imperfections. Maybe in the future Open Space will host a Bastard Event.

Oh yes, and there was an air drop! The utility is still up in the air, but there have been talks about using $BASTARD on the AllBastards up coming marketplace, and making it an acceptable currency on OpenSea and Looks Rare. As well as whatever Berk’s plans are for their new project.

Berk has continued to build the $GLIX ecosystem, and even sold a 1/1 XCULPCITY for 2000 $GLIX to Mooncat. They have also been tweeting often about needing a front end developer for XULPTURES, and hinting that this new project will incorporate $BASTARD. Berk also just got the blue check on OpenSea, so all of their other collections are now verified as well.

Ok, but wtf is $GLIX? The $GLIX ecosystem starts with owning a BGAN Punk V2. This Bastard allows the holder to mint a GLICPIXXX, then the GLICPIXXX is used to mint an ARTPIXXX Eldest. And the ARTPIXXX Eldest generates 10 $GLIX per day for the next 10 years. $GLIX is used to mint a second generation of the ARTPIXXX Eldest, and now to buy 1/1 works of Berk.
Bastard holders have also been whitelisted for Grotto Lab’s upcoming Goblins collection. Grotto Labs is most well known for J48BAFORMS. Damn it feels good to be a Bastard.
I’m not so vain as to do a spotlight on myself, so here’s our Mach’s BotM Wassoshi! He was bestowed this great honor for submitting multiple trait proposals, implementing the Ecosystem of Expertise, and for creating the beautiful monstrosities of bastard wassies.
The Ecosystem of Expertise is where “members and long term Bastards can fill in their irl jobs/expertise/interest. Perhaps to create a Bastard ecosystem of expertise wherein each member can help promote/develop/market or represent the Bastard art in their own way and in every aspect of holders lives.” His efforts have had a lasting affect on the Bastard DAO. If you want to get involved this is a good place to start.
“I’ve been in the crypto space since the first covid bear market. I just graduated with a doctorate in biochemistry and molecular medicine and was looking for a job. I was just curious and wanted to understand what crypto is really about. I got a research position in Copenhagen and had little time to trade but kept reading about it. I started hearing about NFTs last April and It was not until summer — August — that I decided to buy my first NFT. At first and like many I wanted to make some money out of it, but quickly I was absorbed into the burgeoning NFT communities and was looking to collect innovative and interesting art. The first NFT I ever bought was Bastard GAN Punk #5655. I heard about Bastard GAN Punks from Twitter. At first I was not familiar with web3 sites nor minted out collection so I did not understand exactly where to begin. Later on, I made my metamask wallet and bought this bastard because I liked it, I like the colors and that big smoke.”
Wassoshi spends his time offline composing music, and playing guitar in a black metal band. They have a new single coming out soon. He also enjoys drawing, illustrating, and weight lifting. But as a scientist who studies “the role of glycans (special molecules) in an inflammation setting in multiple systems such as the nervous system,” he has another ambitious goal:
“I have a vision that normal people would be able to participate in the advancement of biological sciences. One of the challenges we have in the field is the vast complexity of molecular interactions. It takes years of research to study one molecule which makes it slow to find drugs for complex diseases. If we can predict and understand how all molecules talk with each other, we would be able to easily design smarter personalized drugs. We would be able to eradicate viruses before pandemics even happen. This possibility exists if we could go through all the possible movements and interactions of all the proteins in the world. To make it happen we would need an enormous amount of computer power to calculate all the possible combinations in 3D and then list them according to a score. Creating libraries of drugs and scanning these drugs on all these molecules would also require a lot of power. My dream is to build a decentralized platform where one person can participate in this process even through their cell phones. A person could choose a certain molecule of interest in a particular disease and assign their computing power there. In return the person would be rewarded by a token depending on the calculated power usage. Decentralized science hasn’t taken a real form yet and as a scientist I want to develop this as it makes more sense to me than just pure defi. I am currently gathering people of expertise to begin building this project and it is also pushing me to dive more into learning the code.”
