ny negative events that occur can be avoided if we think rationally. This statement is supported by research that shows that when we analyze a reality or possible future reality and act rationally to prevent or resolve it, we are more successful.
Have you ever made a mistake by thinking too little before taking action?
In this article, we will discuss one of the worst mistakes made by thinking too little and acting poorly. This event occurred in London in 1665, amid the Great Plague of the Bubonic Plague in England.
Medicine was not as advanced as it is today, and the impacts of the plague were frightening because deaths were caused without understanding the cause, much less hope of a possible solution at first. The despair was as torturous as the disease itself, which was widespread throughout society at the time.
Numerous measures were taken in the hope that the problem would be resolved or at least alleviated. However, the problem seemed hopeless. Amidst this terrifying scenario of deaths and contamination, an idea based on a poor observation by the population transformed the problem into something bigger than it already was.
During the Great Plague of London in 1665, people began to suspect that cats were spreading the disease because so many of them interacted with humans and lived in filthy environments. Based on this analysis, they began to kill them. Unfortunately, this was one of their biggest mistakes. While the cat population began to decline, the plague became even worse because there were no cats to kill the true carriers of the plague, the rats.
The Great Plague killed approximately 100,000 people throughout its duration, nearly a quarter of London's population, and this happened in just 18 months.
____________
Fortunately, after many months, the problem was resolved and the pandemic subsided, but the impacts are still felt today.
Do you like cats?
Cats can be great companions, and they have the ability to protect us from dangers we can't even see, but they do.
Thank you for reading this article, and I hope to see you in the next content.
