Ghana sealed qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a tense 1–0 victory over Comoros in Accra on Saturday night. The Black Stars, coached by Otto Addo, needed just a point to finish top of Group I but went one better thanks to a cool 47th-minute strike from Mohammed Kudus, set up by Thomas Partey.
After the goal, Ghana controlled possession and defended with discipline to deny Comoros any route back. The win confirmed Ghana as group winners on 25 points, securing their fifth World Cup appearance after campaigns in 2006, 2010, 2014 and 2022.
Jubilant fans flooded the streets of Accra as Ghana joined Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria among Africa’s early qualifiers for the expanded 2026 tournament.
