Senegalese star Kalidou Koulibaly has revealed that he was close to joining Manchester United back in 2018 — but then-Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti stopped the move in its tracks.
Speaking in a recent interview, Koulibaly admitted that he wanted the transfer, but Ancelotti threatened to resign if Napoli sold him. “He told the club I was untouchable,” the defender recalled.
It’s one of those fascinating ‘what if’ moments in football — and a reminder of how a single decision can change the course of a career.
