The megatron (M) is a unit of energy used in particle physics. It is equal to one billion electron volts (1 MeV = 10 ^6 eV). The megatron is used to measure the energy released when elementary particles collide in particle accelerators such as the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. Megatron is also used to describe the energy released during nuclear reactions and explosions of nuclear bombs.
