Fear is the Mind Killer 0.2
In the swirling chaos of post-Soviet Russia, I was raised with the understanding that the government was an entity so alien and detached from our daily grind that there was no bloody point in mingling. Instead, we tackled the relentless torrent of challenges that flooded our days, never seeking aid from the faceless authorities. This way of thinking sculpted a generation of souls who believed that as long as they didn't rattle the government's cage, they would be left to wander in t...
Fear is the Mind Killer 0.1
Today, I embark on a brief odyssey of tales recounting my own voyage of self-discovery, which brought me face to face with the deeply ingrained trepidation of voicing my thoughts and feelings. This clandestine fear, I reckon, serves as a prime tool for the Russian government to manipulate and control its citizens. Many of those ensnared by this dread remain oblivious to its existence or the degree to which it pervades their lives. And so, it becomes my mission to lay bare my narrative and unv...

Election day
I was once an eager student. In my early school years I have worked tirelessly to be the best in class and was often shut down for having too much initiative. Seems ridiculous today, but a statement "we know that you know, let the other students work" was something I heard often. By the time I went to a boarding school I decided to try a different approach of doing as little as I possibly could. I got really good at it, in fact I got so good that I failed the entry exams to my super-competiti...

Hey you.
My name is Vlad Svoboda. I am a film producer, a degen and an immersive artist. My favourite medium is interactive performances that push the boundaries of what can be done within an artistic experience. A few years back I made a work that was a commentary on the phenomenon of career building and workaholism. Recently I published a short film about it, you can check it out here:
At this moment I find myself in Bali, being displaced from Kyiv by a war. There is a local burn happening, organised by a Russian burners community in which I am revisiting the pain infliction performance technique.
This time it’s called “Sack the Tyrant”. I am planning to invite people into an enclosed immersive space where they’re going to find themselves in the middle of a big political rally. They will be wearing a shock collar and they will be encouraged to express themselves vocally. They will get electrocuted with increasing intensity for their expression and eventually when they decide they’ve had enough be extracted out of the rally into a police van. At that point they’ll get a physical object to commemorate their achievement of overcoming the pain and fear to express themselves as well as an NFT. Depending on the amount of shocks they can endure, they will have dropped a particular tyrant.

I am self funding this piece and I am asking for your support here. Please donate whatever amount you can to make this experience better. After the event I will make a film about it and publish it for all backers to see. I will include every address that donates in the credits no matter the size of donation.
Thank you.
