Helldivers 2 is a co-op third person shooter developed by Arrowhead Studios and published by Sony. It’s a direct sequel to 2015’s Helldivers which was a top down shooter. Arrowhead seems to have come a long way since the previous title. The hype for the game was real, ever since Arrowhead announced a new untitled project in 2020, followed by subsequent leaks and social media whoopsie that referred to the titular game, only to get confirmed during a showcase in 2023.
How does the switch from top down to third person work out for this title and which of the gameplay has been retained, re-envisioned or entirely removed? Let’s get cracking and shoot some alien a**.

In order to sustain Super Earth’s faster than light technology which is used to travel the galaxy, there needs to be a constant supply of a precious substance called E-730. Luckily, it is readily available from the decomposing bodies of Terminid bugs, which live in their controlled farms. Killing those critters and farming E-730 from their carcasses has become an industry on its own.
But alas, great songs don’t last forever; the Terminids succeed in breaking free of their controlled farm locations and begin spreading throughout the galaxy, way out of control. While Super Earth’s forces are struggling to control the situation, there’s a new enemy on the block: mechanical automatons. They are mindless, bloodthirsty robots and their upcoming is the final straw for Super Earth to mobilize the Helldivers once again in an attempt to restore peace and democracy.
Helldivers 2 is a giant leap from the game’s predecessor and not only in terms of gameplay. Arrowhead decommissioned the first game’s engine due to the…
