MetaMask announced the launch of a new software engine called Snaps, designed to expand its use in blockchain networks that are not compatible with the Ethereum virtual machine. So far, MetaMask has been used primarily with Ethereum and Ethereum-compatible blockchains such as BNB Chain, Polygon, Arbitrum, and Optimism.
