WHO IS MAMA CAX?
Model Mama Cax, whose real name was Cacsmy Brutus, was a disability rights activist and advocate of body positivity. She was born in Haiti in the early 1990s and later immigrated to the US in 1999. At the age of 14, she was diagnosed with of lung and bone cancer, which ultimately resulted in her right leg being amputated. Despite being ill, Cax was determined to complete her education and pursue her goals. She eventually graduated from college and went and became an activist for body positivity and disability rights.
In 2018, she was discovered to be a model, which marked the beginning of her career in the fashion and beauty industries. She was quickly accepted by the industry, walking for companies like Fenty and Savage X Fenty and appearing on magazine covers and modeled for well-known companies like ASOS, Nike, and Target. She also rose to fame by giving speeches about body positivity and disabilities.
In recent years, Mama Cax has advocated for increased representation of people with disabilities and people from various racial and ethnic backgrounds in the modeling industry by using her platform to support diversity and inclusion.
