So the company decided there will be no company trip before the bull market’s back and everyone was a bit disappointed. So the other day after a meeting we were talking about this, one of the team members said “I still want to meet you guys and hang out together, how about we self-fund the trip? It can be a 7 days trip.”
At the moment everyone was moved by his passion and somehow we decided to have a self-funded company trip. There were around 18 people, including me.
Right after I said yes to the trip, I started to hesitate. I actually don’t know much about them, spending a week with them doesn’t sound attractive to me. It can be uncomfortable when I have to be not really myself for 7 days. I was about to tell everyone that I’m not going, but want to wait a bit.
The interesting part is when it’s self-funded, it’s also self-coordinated. Unlike company trips in which the HR team will be in charge, we are on our own. But after we decided on this trip, no one is following up again. Maybe we are all too busy, or, maybe everyone started to hesitate like me. Or maybe they all think they are too good for operational work. Strangest thing is that I kind of feel they expect me to do it, because I’m a female? Or I do like I’m good at this? Sometimes they will just ask me what’s the next step. Hello? I’m not a tour guide.
So I ignore their messages. For now. Let’s see how it goes.
