Aptos Incentivized Testnet Update - Aptoslabs - Medium
Two weeks have passed since we first shared our plans for our incentivized testnets. We are happy to share several exciting updates around eligibility requirements, selection process, expected participation slots, success criteria and rewards. Before jumping into the details, we want to share some of our principles and goals of the Aptos Incentivized Testnet (AIT) process:Establish and promote the operator behavior that will lead to a successful Aptos MainnetEmphasize the decentralized nature...

**By **Joshua Lind TL;DR: The Aptos blockchain leverages a wide range of novel techniques to ensure high-throughput, low latency, verified state synchronization in a decentralized network. Peers can validate and synchronize over 10k transactions per second (TPS) with sub-second latency in Aptos today, and we’re already on our way to 100k+ TPS.OverviewState synchronization (or state sync) is an important but often overlooked aspect of blockchain design. In this blogpost, we discuss the evoluti...

Aptos Incentivized Testnet Roadmap - Aptoslabs - Medium
The road to the Aptos mainnet passes through a series of incentivized testnets. During this journey, we look forward to the Aptos community coming together to build a secure, reliable, and decentralized network. Below we describe our timeline along this path, outlining both deliverables and goals. The exact goals and rewards will be published as the registration for the incentivized testnet opens. While this document aims to be exhaustive in the work remaining, we intend to maintain flexibili...

The Aptos team and our community have been hard at work over the last few months bringing safety and scalability to the foundation of web3. From our very first hackathon to kicking off incentivized testnets to exciting announcements, Aptos’ momentum has been tangible as we “Move” into our mainnet launch later this year.
We wouldn’t be where we are without the support of our community. Thank you for making the last few months incredibly successful, filled with learning and really fun! We continue to be humbled by the enthusiasm for Aptos and for the safety, scalability and reliability this network will bring to web3.
To continue building a sustainable community and encourage communication and learning within our ecosystem, we’ve launched the Aptos Forum. This forum is meant to facilitate communication and coordination for ongoing community development. Participate in open discussions across various threads, explore opportunities to collaborate, and get more involved in projects building on Aptos through this newly launched platform.
One of the inaugural opportunities for Forum participation will be node operator selection for Aptos Incentivized Testnet 2 (AIT-2). For the AIT-2 selection process, we are involving the community to help identify qualified node operators by upvoting validator profiles. Find out how to participate on the forum. More on our incentivized testnets below.

Prior to our incentivized testnet, our developer network reached over 20,000 nodes — making it the largest known proof-of-stake node community running today. This brought significant progress toward our mission to be the most decentralized modern blockchain, without sacrificing safety or scalability.
Over the past few weeks, we’ve launched our series of incentivized testnets, aiming to secure the most reliable network prior to mainnet launch. AIT-1 was successfully completed. We’re right around the corner from concluding the registration process for AIT-2, and that testnet will be live in just a few days!
Our first hackathon displayed the power of the Aptos community in full force. In less than 36 hours we saw projects across wallets, AMMs, games, NFT infrastructure and more from builders around the world who traveled to take part in this milestone. We will soon be announcing plans for another hackathon later this year — more to come!
Last week, we announced the launch of our grant program. The success and energy surrounding our hackathon inspired us to create a program to support the rapid growth of the Aptos ecosystem. The response has been overwhelming, and we’re more excited than ever about the world-changing applications that are, and will continue to be, building on Aptos. If you’re interested, get started with our application.
The Aptos team was on the ground for NFT NYC, where we co-hosted an event with Google all around the real-world use cases of web3 in the entertainment industry. Our CEO, Mo Shaikh, was joined on the panel with Spencer Dinwiddie, Dallas Mavericks player and Founder at Calaxy; 3LAU, DJ and CEO at Royal; Dillon Rosenblatt, CEO at Autograph; and moderator Vivien Lewit, Global Head of Artists, YouTube Music. Catch the discussion here.
Prior to NFT NYC, we also minted a million NFTs in under an hour. Weekend work.
Following our $200m fundraise announcement led by a16z with participation from Multicoin Capital, Haun Ventures, ParaFi Capital, Hashed, Variant, FTX, Paxos, Coinbase, and others, PayPal revealed their investment in Aptos. A first layer one blockchain investment for their venture arm, PayPal Ventures.
The Aptos Research team released a blog post outlining the vision and approach for research at Aptos: Cutting-edge Research Meets World-class Engineering. Check it out here.
If this recap of Aptos’ tremendous growth has you interested in joining us, we’re hiring across multiple roles including a newly opened Developer Relations position.
Read the docs, explore our GitHub, follow us on Twitter, and bring questions to weekly “Move Monday” office hours (10am PT).
