In the simplest terms, Art Packs is a platform for generative artists and collectors to release and collect artworks inscribed utilizing Ordinal Theory on the Bitcoin blockchain distributed through Collector Packs.
We feel the current generative art platform models, having borrowed many of the same ideals of traditional art galleries, are boring at the least and broken at most. Collectors just aren't inspired with the "click Mint, get random artwork, artwork sits in wallet and quickly forgotten" model anymore.
There's no enthusiasm, no excitement, no chase and little FOMO. Therefore artists are competing in a race to the bottom in pricing in hopes to grab some sort of collector attention while giving more and more away in fees to platforms that do little in artist representation or bring a strong collector base to discover their work.
Art Packs is striving to innovate on a couple key aspects of generative art with a mission to make creation, collection and distribution fun, exciting and valuable again through this concept of Packs which inherently establishes a tiered secondary market where artists, collectors, community and platform all benefit and contribute towards exciting drops.
Art Packs offers a standardized release mechanism. Generative artists create and curate collections of 256 generative artifacts from outputs of their algorithmic creative code base. Each collection starts with 32 packs for sale. Each pack contains 8 individual artifacts from the collection.
The artist assigns rarity to each artifact which includes Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary and Mythic classifications as well as a special Exotic designation which is explained further below.

Each artifact in this collection of 256 is unique and considered a 1 of 1 of 256. Further, within the collection exists 128 Common, 64 Uncommon, 32 Rare, 16 Epic, 8 Legendary and 4 Mythic artifacts.
An additional 4 artifacts will be labeled Exotic, which are special artifacts that may have different content or distribution mechanism than the standard algorithmic artifacts. These Exotic artifacts are experimental and open for each artist to be creative in its content and/or distribution. For example, an artist might decide to make these artifacts be representative of extra or supporting content including cover art, early sketch(es), an article, text/poetry, a video, animations, a game, digital or physical redemptions, a golden ticket, a unique experience etc.
Creative methods of distribution can also come into play as well. The fact is, these Exotic artifacts are only limited to the artists creativity and it's going to be fun and exciting to discover all the new ways on how artists choose to use these limited Exotics to support and extend their collections.
Each pack contains 8 individual artifacts and each pack will always include 4 Common, 2 Uncommon and 1 Rare. The remaining artifact is left up to chance and will either be an Epic (50% chance), Legendary (25% chance), Mythic (12.5% chance) or Exotic (12.5% chance).
Collectors of packs will have the option to open a pack to reveal and obtain the artifacts within it. This is termed a "pack break". The pack inscription will be burned and the 8 artifact inscriptions inside will be transferred to the collectors wallet. These new artifacts join the total collection and can be individually kept or traded on the secondary market.
Packs may also remain unbroken and traded on the secondary market but the contents will always be unknown until the current owner performs a "pack break".
The benefit of the distribution mechanic of packs is superior to the traditional single mint mechanic. We think there's great power which can be obtained as far as value and longevity for this packs model within the generative art landscape. One where the traditions of art creation, appreciation, collecting and trading still reign true but with an added flair of DEGEN fun, excitement and opportunity during each pack break and reveal.
We understand this model won't come without some criticism. Pack prices, considering they each hold 8 individual artifacts with chances at high rarity, could be considered too expensive for some collectors. Also, at least at first, the number of unique holders stands to be much lower versus that of a single mint model. These caveats, however, are features and not bugs. These ideals don't detract but instead add more conviction, attention, longevity and value for the artists, community and platform as a whole.
With a higher barrier to entry, only collectors with a serious interest gain such entry.
These collectors become the cornerstones of the community and stewards of the collections, creating greater value from the ground up.
Pack collectors whom "break" their packs can set, stabilize and proliferate the secondary market with more thought and precision which greatly lessens speculative, one and done, flipping opportunities which often result in floor prices dropping below mint price.
Pack collectors become a voice box for the artists and community as they'll naturally want to part with some of their collection and will need to become vocal to attract newcomers and secondary sales.
This rewards early adopters and creates a tiered secondary distribution model and upside for those willing to obtain the packs first.
Collectors that want to hedge risk and just want to join the community by owning a single artifact can now browse the secondary for an exact artwork they love with the sales gains flowing directly to the pack collectors.
As pack breaks occur, ownership of the rarest artifacts will get revealed or not. This makes for an interesting secondary market as the owners of packs have the decision to break packs and profit from the individual secondary sales of its contents or wait in hopes that others break packs first and rares go undiscovered which means they still remain in a pack thus increasing the value of each unbroken pack.
As a way to bootstrap the platform and at the same time reward early adopters, Art Packs will be kicking things off with a special genesis collection named "Bit L'ords" created by generative artist and founder Shane Richardson. This will be a special one off collection containing 4,096 artifacts as a generative art PFP with owners gaining utility and early access perks for future collections spanning the lifetime of the platform.

Bit L'ords will be distributed as 256 packs. Each pack will contain 16 generative art PFP artifacts including 8 Common, 4 Uncommon, 2 Rare and 1 Epic. The remaining artifact in each pack will either be a Legendary (50% chance), Mythic (25% chance) or Exotic (25% chance).
The packs may be traded on the secondary market. However, there will be an extra 32 "Golden ARTifacts" randomly hidden across the 256 packs and the owner that performs the "pack break" and discovers one seals their wallet address into the role of "Elevated Elders" which grants them guaranteed allowlist access for the next Art Packs collection drop.
Further, a couple days before any future collection is released, a snapshot will be taken of all Bit L'ords holders and these wallets will receive first-come-first-serve (FCFS) allowlist phase access pending there are mints remaining after the guaranteed allowlist phase. Any remaining mints beyond the the guaranteed and FCFS phases will be available to the public for all collections.
The "Elevated Elders" will be a forever rotating group. Each member that mints a pack from this next drop remains in the group. Any member(s) that decide not to mint during the guaranteed allowlist are then replaced, in order, by the next members that mint during the FCFS or public phases.
This allows members to drop in and out of guaranteed access when interest or means changes. These Elders become stewards for the collections and should market and champion awareness with the goal to expand the community through new sales of single ARTifacts from the collections secondary markets.

Each collection contains Exotic rarity artifacts with artist created mechanics. For this release, there will be 64 Exotics which retain a special distribution mechanic. For Bit L'ords, the Exotics will follow a "Just Gonna Send It" mechanic. As a requirement of each pack break, owners must input an ordinals wallet address. In the chance that their pack holds an Exotic, this Exotic artifact will be immediately transferred to that address, therefore forcing the owner to part with and gift the Exotic to someone else.
There should be both fun and strategy in this concept. Send it to your mom, send it to your crush, send it to Satoshi, send it to Casey, send it to an influencer to create buzz around the collection or be absolutely greedy and send it to yourself (tsk-tsk. . .everyone will know). The choice, outcomes and fate lie within the hands of the pack break owner but there's some real opportunities considering the choice on who to SEND IT to.

If you've made it this far, you should know that ORDINALS ARE DEAD and this is probably nothing. However, if you want to have some fun and "break" some traditions then . . .
