Looks that dominated Digital Fashion Week NY Sept 2022
Pastel tones, chromatic materials, puffers and otherworldly scenes stole the limelight at Digital Fashion Week New York (DFWNY), which took place from 7-11 September 2022. Once again, various digital fashion talent showcased their latest creations. And I was blown away. The diversity in stories, the digital technique displayed within each garment and the versatility of skillsets coming together in the form of music and environmental production were mesmerising. There was the main showroom whi...

Javo G, the creator, and his web3 tools
Having only been a part of the digital fashion community for just under a year, I was naturally seeking a guiding hand through the hustle and bustle of the web3 ecosystem. One name kept popping up in conversations and on social media - Javier Guzmán Fidalgo aka Javo.AI-generated image by Javo GJavo humbly describes himself as a “Father, housband, brother, son”, according to his Twitter bio. But, for me, I would type a rather different description. Something along the lines of “web3 fashion pi...

My very first encounter of Lucii’s work was that of a black, digital leather biker’s jacket covered in sharp spikes. As it span around and around on the virtual turntable, all I wanted to do was reach into my phone screen, pull the jacket out and try it on (even if it pricked the hell out of me).
Originally from the mid-West and now LA-based, Lucii’s interests lie at the intersection of art and technology. For her, the world of virtual fashion was beckoning; it was the obvious next step. “When I saw 3D technology reach realistic fabric simulation, I immediately jumped on board and poured all my time into it,” Lucii says. “I really went the full 100. For me, this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
Lucii graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a BFA in Fine Arts, attributing her personal success to major role models. “I think outside of school, all the great creative mentors I’ve had in LA were the most rewarding,” she says.
But for me, Lucii’s accurate technique blended with an edgy style can’t go unnoticed as a massive accomplishment in the digital fashion space. “I love counterculture and the brave people that innovate it,” Lucii says. “Living in LA gives me constant inspiration for different modes of expression. The quote ‘everything loose lands in LA’ is pretty accurate in my opinion.”
Lucii’s stand-out piece created thus far is the Meta Moto Series: “I felt like throughout the entire discourse of the project, I was always excited. It was extremely rewarding,” she says.
As a follow-on to this collection, Lucii has crafted a 4-phase digital project dubbed the Mutant Motos, a series of (my fav) radical biker jackets each with a unique pattern, colour palette and signature armour of studded spikes.

Beyond LA as a physical place for inspiration, Lucii is all about the positive force present in web3 communities. And I wholeheartedly agree.
“The culture is so overwhelmingly positive which enables me to be productive and really enjoy the process,” Lucii says. “Being able to create art and have relationships with the people that engage with my art is so rewarding - I had never experienced something so great before web3.”
One of the big hurdles for Lucii currently is time itself, given her constant flow of original creativity. “I have so many ideas it's hard to turn my brain off at all. I do try, though - ha!”
RN, Lucii has laid out the blueprint for a new project in the metaverse which I am pretty amped to experience myself. “I have just begun my journey building in Decentraland and I am absolutely in love with the process and community,” Lucii says. “It feels like there is an endless amount of ideas and opportunities there. I can’t wait!”
Neither can I, Lucii - neither *clap* can *clap* I.
