Stratagems.world is a fully on chain simultaneous turn-based game developed by Etherplay on base.
Alpha 1 on Base mainnet (March 21st to May 21st) marks the first play-test of Stratagems, originating from a hackathon project in November 2022. After winning the gaming category of the Arbitrum hackathon, the team did not immediately continue work on it, as they needed more tools. The entire year of 2023 was spent on developing these tools.
Now, players compete for map control in this first alpha release.
Rewards & Scoring: The leader-board system offers $1000 in rewards, with the potential for more as the alpha progresses. The game is divided into two phases, each lasting one month. In Phase 1 (until April 21st), players receive TOKENs via Discord to stake on the map. Lands are scored based on prosperity, although this isn't the final score.
In Phase 2, GEMS are introduced, distributed based on prosperous island ownership. Fixed distribution per second incentivizes early territory control.

The current alpha version of the game is released on the Base mainnet, and players can obtain their in-game tokens through Stratagems' Discord. In future versions, players will need to stake ETH to play the game, but this alpha version is free; you only need to prepare ETH for gas fees.
Stratagems operates on a 24-hour simultaneous turn-based system divided into two phases: commit and reveal.
Commit Phase (23 hours): Players strategize and commit to their moves by making a single transaction with a corresponding deposit. Collaboration among players is encouraged to devise optimal tactics. Once committed, decisions cannot be altered.
Reveal Phase (1 hour): All actions are resolved simultaneously, regardless of the order of reveals. Automatic reveal services are provided, ensuring player actions remain confidential until the reveal. After the reveal, the next epoch begins, revealing player actions and allowing for the evolution of each land according to Stratagems' rules.
There are 5 player-owned factions, Blue, Red, Green, Yellow, Purple, and one Black.
Factions of different colors attack each other, which may lead to the decrease of lives.
Tips:
In Stratagems, players can switch factions freely, but placing opposing factions next to each other triggers attacks, and redistributing deposits to neighboring players.
Each land will start with 2 lives (represented by the houses), the floating gem representing the deposited ETH/Token.When a land has no neighboring enemies, its life increases by one.
When a land has only enemy neighbors, its life decreases by one.
When land has both, if the number of friendly neighbors is bigger than the number of enemies, life grows by one, else it decreases by one.
When life reaches zero, the land dies, losing its deposit (gem). It remains on the grid, inactive, and can be replaced by any player. Deposited tokens are distributed to neighboring lands with different factions.
Example 1:
In this example, I ll lose and win 3, why not 6 because the other green player is also getting its share.
Example 2:
This is a bad example, you are going to lose 8 and win only 4.
When life reaches 7, the land reaches its ultimate state. The owner can then withdraw the deposit.
*One potential strategy is to leverage the increased token supply as two players, ensuring that your placements do not conflict. Additionally, Stratagems involves choosing the right factions to ally with.
