Based Merch is now available at based.works!
We've wanted to do a Based Merch collection for a long time and we had some significant delays in making this happen but we're happy to officially launch Based Merch which is powered by 9dcc/IYK chips that enable some unique digital experiences that can be accessed by tapping the chip on the merch items.
We are very excited about the possibilities of chipped physical merchandise that can enable unique features like verification, access, and more. While there's been a lot of promise with NFC-chipped merchandise, we haven't seen many brands execute this well yet. Based Merch is our experiment with chipped merchandise to see what's possible and explore it further.
We are also very excited that the Based Shop on based.works is one of the very first Shopify stores that has USDC payments enabled natively in Shopify Pay which allows customers to pay for Based Merch in USDC on Base.
We collaborated with 9dcc on Based Merch. 9dcc was the world's first onchain fashion and lifestyle brand; pioneering fashion, technology, and innovation. Unfortunately, 9dcc was recently sunset but we will still be able to leverage their tech for this initial Based Merch drop. Based Merch is likely the last 9dcc produced merchandise.
Based Merch 001 collection contains a Based Tee, a Based Hat and a Based Card/Sticker Pack. All are made from very high quality materials with the aesthetic of elevated based basics.
Depending on how this Based Merch 001 drop goes, we may decide to do more Based Merch in the future. Here's the details on Based Merch 001:
There’s only 400 items total:
100 Based Shirts
100 Based Hats
200 Based Cards/Sticker Packs
Each item is chipped with a NFC chip that comes with a Based Merch NFT and a $BASED reward. Each Based Merch item has a corresponding NFT that's claimable by tapping the chip.
In the coming weeks, we will enable a unique claim link that's accessible by tapping the chip on the Based Merch which will allow anyone who obtains a Based Merch item to claim $BASED rewards.
Here's the a minimum rewards for each Based Merch item:
Based Tees will each receive at least 10M $BASED
Based Shirts will each receive at least 10M $BASED
Based Cards/Sticker Packs will each receive at least 3M $BASED
There will be 12 random Based Merch items that contain a 100M $BASED reward
5% of the total supply of $BASED will be distributed through Based Merch.
These are the only official Based NFTs to exist so far so it's the second official onchain asset of Based in addition to the $BASED token.

it was bumpy*, but I think I got it done. * the shop-pay integration was annoying - it tied to auto-fill in things I didn't want to auto-fill - it wasn't clear how to sign up create new vs use existing - it didn't give a non-shop-pay option - crypto payment wasn't seamless but worked However, I got through and have a shirt and hat coming my way, happy to flaunt in front of based and non-based alike.

The shop-pay integration is definitely still a work in progress, we got early beta access The autofill and sign up is a Shopify thing but we can probably make it better on our end too We didn’t want to do a non-Shop pay option bc Shop Pay is such a good experience if integrated properly and we wanted to highlight the pay with USDC feature Thank you again 🙏🏼
