This idea started with yours truly, Contributor #1, but it came to life thanks to the skill and hustle of the legendary team W3bbie.

Gather 'round, let me tell you a tale of transformation. I fell down the rabbit hole of web3 in late 2020 as an artist. But you know what? In web3, artists morph into builders. So for the last two years, I’ve teamed up with W3bbie to whip up fun projects that were cool but didn’t exactly change the world.

Flashback to last summer at ETH CC in Paris – thanks to Proof Of Vibes I was surrounded by regens. These weren’t your typical blockchain bros; these were real visionaries using blockchains to make the world a better place. I left Paris amped and ready to join the regen revolution. After months of stalking.. I mean, observing and researching, I had an epiphany: the coolest projects were funding public goods. Think Pizza DAO – turning pizza into a public good. Or Nouns – sparking creative ideas. And the Artist Program – funding cc0 art.

So, I mashed up all my favorite elements into a new, creative way to fund public goods. PGC is giving out grants for creative public goods projects, whether they’re big or small, with our community’s backing. We’re also making it suuuper simple for people outside of web3 to dive in onchain.

Why Base, you ask? Because Base’s tech makes it easy to build apps that bring new users onchain. Plus, Coinbase is the gold standard in crypto trustworthiness. We’re committed to being a major player in Base’s master plan to bring the next billion users onchain. Our community will be the comfy couch where regens worldwide land when they finally make the leap. And we love Onchain Summer!

Here’s the grand scheme:

1. Fund the Treasury: We’re kickstarting the treasury with free mints of the brand's saga on Zora (available now), AI-powered membership tokens (more on that soon), and partnerships with other public goods-loving communities.

2. Proposals and Voting: Later this summer we will announce our Onchain Summer public goods challenge. Anyone with a digital wallet (we recommend Coinbase Smart Wallet) can submit a proposal for a project that will make a positive impact. The crazier the idea, the better. After submissions close, there’s a voting period where membership token holders get to choose their favorite projects. The winners get grants from our treasury.

3. Membership Tokens: They’re unlimited but only available until Onchain Summer wraps up. They’ll be back next summer and every summer after that.

4. Proceeds Allocation: 55% of membership token sales go straight to the PGC treasury. The rest funds PGC marketing, the dev team, and rewards for our partners. 100% of the treasury is split into grants for the top projects at summer’s end. We’re aiming for 20-100 grants, depending on treasury size – community input is welcome during our upcoming community calls on X.
