Every Monday, I clean up my space, I do my laundry, I take a long shower, wash my hair, shave, I plan out my week and organize any further details of my life needing to be organized. I call this my weekly routine. It keeps me on top of things, whether it be as small as laundry or as large as making sure the important tasks I need to get done throughout the week are accounted for. I find that this routine allows me to start my week off productively and remain productive, organized, and well maintained throughout the week.
Furthermore, every day, I wake up, I shower, I journal, I read a chapter or two of whatever book I am reading at the time, I burn my sage in order to cleanse me of yesterday and open me up to the new day, and then I proceed to do whatever work that needs to be done for that day. This daily routine allows me to stay on top of things even more, not only allowing me to wake up each day and do something productive, especially in a time where getting out of bed and up and motivated is becoming harder and harder to do, but it also holds me accountable for taking care of myself, feeding my mind and soul, and making sure I am well maintained and refreshed in order to start my day off right.
I have even gone as far as thinking of starting a monthly routine in which involves further self-care (such as nails, hair, wax, massage, etc.), spiritual advisement or therapy, and a solo date. This is to allow myself to release and never get disconnected from what’s really important, me. Making sure I keep up my maintenance and keep up my appearance and not allow the daily life to distract me from self-care.
As you can see routine is a great tool to use in order to establish productivity, organization, motivation, and maintenance into your life whether it be daily, weekly, or monthly. In a time where the world is getting crazier, life is getting harder, I know, personally, that I benefitted from an extra reassurance or boost of accountability towards being productive, organized and maintained. It provides the motivation to wake up each day refreshed, begin each week organized, and start each month relaxed.
Do you have any routines that have made your life better? If not, what’s stopping you?
