The quiet Solana meme scene hasn't been this lively in a long time, and it's happening in a way we could hardly have imagined—Base protocol lead Jesse Pollak, renowned crypto KOL Cobie, Solana founder Toly, and pump.fun founder alon are all engaging in "abstract" antics around a single Solana meme coin. The participation of the Base camp, in particular, feels like "breaking a forbidden taboo," especially in the current environment where chains are fiercely competing, making it all the more unexpected for players.
This Solana meme coin is $chillhouse. It's not a new coin; having successfully launched on pump.fun, Chillhouse has already been on a journey for half a year and has consistently been one of the important meme coins within the pump.fun ecosystem. So, what kind of coin is this? How did it manage to connect these different camps for this cross-faction "meme abstract show"?
Chillguy + House = Chillhouse
The initial inspiration for Chillhouse was exactly the title of this section, "Chillguy + House = Chillhouse." That's right, at the very beginning, Chillhouse was positioned simply as a "frankenstein meme."
Although a "frankenstein," it possessed the kind of "rebellious satire" rare in excellent Web3 memes. Chillguy had an explosive run during last year's meme bull market but ultimately faced legal threats from the original artist, Phillip Banks.
This is the first half of Chillhouse's origin—"The creator of Chillguy is not a Chill person."
The other half comes from $House, the coin that briefly shone after the Trump coin craze cooled down, peaking at a $120 million market cap in late April by tapping into global anxiety about unaffordable housing for young people with the slogan "1 $House = 1 House."
During $House's rise, a new "version god" emerged: Fapital. In a group chat called "Fapital Club," Chillhouse deployer @VERYKOOLLUKEY posed the question:
"What if we launch Chillhouse?"
Other members found the idea amusing. Ultimately, @0xRacist created the image for this "frankenstein"—a Chillguy with its head replaced by a house.
Half a year later, this creative idea has generated nearly $169,000 in creator revenue. An amusing idea birthed a meme coin and yielded over a million RMB—one has to marvel at the wonders of Web3.
This creator revenue has accumulated since July 20th, as the official Chillhouse Twitter is now operated by @RiccoRosas, with creator fees being redirected to him at the end of July. Thus, Chillhouse can be considered the most successful case study following pump.fun's creator revenue reform, ensuring the long-term operation of the meme coin.
Before reviewing Chillhouse's journey, let's acknowledge that opportunities often brew during market lows. Six months later, as I write this, Chillhouse and neet have become the "twin stars" of the pump.fun ecosystem. Both have connections to Fapital—one born directly in the Fapital group chat, the other receiving early recognition from Fapital.
The "Twin Stars" on pump.fun's Homepage
Fapital's "calls" are never long-winded. Scrolling through his tweets, you might find him disappearing for a while, then popping up to joke, sometimes about things unrelated to crypto. Those not deeply active in the pump.fun ecosystem might not even know who he is. To some extent, Chinese players who persistently navigated the pump.fun ecosystem, overcoming language and cultural barriers, reaped the informational advantages of their perseverance.
Other recognized coins in the pump.fun ecosystem, like $USDUC and $tokabu, also grew slowly from the low tide of the pump.fun and broader Solana meme scene five months ago.
Of course, the growth process wasn't smooth sailing.
The Growth Process
Chillhouse's start was decidedly smooth. Within less than a week of its birth, its market cap briefly surpassed $10 million. @json1444, now pump.fun's Chief Content Officer, mentioned Chillhouse in its first week.
The Chillhouse community also developed a distinctive character. After the successful token launch, community members actively created funny memes, not strictly focused on $chillguy or $House, but engaging in wildly abstract content.
The community's efforts achieved their first major success in late May. Members spontaneously spammed DMs to various KOLs with a single question: "Thoughts on chillhouse?"
This "text bombardment" eventually got Ansem to respond, and "Thoughts on chillhouse?" became a meme within the Solana ecosystem. Now, seeing comments from both English and Chinese communities randomly pop up with just "Thoughts?" is an abbreviated version of this meme. The meme isn't really asking for KOLs' opinions on Chillhouse; it's more of a "clingy" way to attract attention—like a friend asking about the weather, and I immediately respond with "Thoughts on chillhouse?" regardless of the context.
This meme eventually also pulled in pump.fun founder alon:
Leveraging this meme, Chillhouse quickly attracted interactions from more major KOLs. @based16z proactively cue'd Chillhouse jokingly, "Hyperliquid cut KOL budgets, Chillhouse team, I will be in touch." Chillhouse seized the opportunity perfectly, "Can you get me an interview on threadguy?", which in turn prompted a reply from threadguy: "How much?"
Following this, $chillhouse entered its first major rally, reaching a then all-time high near $30 million market cap by late June. By this point, Chillhouse was an undeniable presence in the Solana meme scene, appearing spontaneously in countless memes, as well as in Mitch's Telegram channel and rasmr's streams repeatedly.
Rasmr's streams featured Chillhouse constantly—from asking random people on the street "Thoughts on chillhouse?" to wearing Chillhouse merch during other segments. Chillhouse also appeared on other top pump.fun live streams like Based DD.
Chillhouse had established its footing, but the price couldn't rise forever. After nearing the $30 million mark for the first time, Chillhouse entered a sharp correction, dropping about 75% over 12 days.
Subsequent price movements lacked clear catalysts, making it a "painful process"—the community remained, Chillhouse content maintained its high quality, but short-term sentiment and attention don't stay fixed on a nascent meme coin forever. Like the Ethereum mainnet meme coins SPX/Mog/BITCOIN that endured long-term consensus tests, Chillhouse entered this difficult and unavoidable trial.
During this period, Chillhouse launched an NFT collection called "Lil Chillers," whose floor price once exceeded 7 SOL, demonstrating its influence. Currently, the floor price for this NFT series is around 1.1 SOL.
But before discussing the recent "All-Star Abstract Show," let's address a question:
What is pump.fun founder alon's real attitude towards Chillhouse? If he likes it, why hasn't the pump.fun token support fund, Glass Full Foundation, bought it?
I believe this is deliberate by alon. Firstly, pump.fun has changed its Twitter header image several times over the past few months, always including meme coins it supports, and Chillhouse has never been absent.
Secondly, looking at alon's tweets, one might initially think there's some beef between Chillhouse and alon:
> alon: "Organic pump.fun tokens will have big news, but Chillhouse is not organic."
> alon: "Can you remove Chillhouse from the picture?"
But in reality, Chillhouse's style itself is that of a schizophrenic "silly goose." The "disdain" in alon's tweets and GFF not buying are a form of alternative CP.
How to put it? It's kinda like treating Chillhouse as the "Little Jack Ma" of the scene.
The All-Star Abstract Show
Chillhouse's price just hit a new all-time high yesterday, briefly breaking $30 million, surging approximately 9x from the bottom in just 4 days.
The reason is precisely this intriguing "All-Star Abstract Show." Why does everyone feel Chillhouse didn't just get lucky? We need to review the complete timeline.
* Oct 21: Coinbase spent $25 million to purchase the UpOnly NFT from Cobie. Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong confirmed the news, stating the NFT holder could force Cobie and Ledger Status to produce 8 episodes of "Up Only TV," but granted no sponsorship rights and reserved the right to call the buyer a "sucker."
* Oct 22: alon retweeted a 2015 tweet from Cobie ("In this sinful life, all I need is myself and my Pump team") with the comment, "This is what I do now."
* Oct 25: Chillhouse official Twitter, continuing its erratic style, tweeted: "Fuck you Jesse Pollak, fuck you Base."
* This unexpectedly drew a response from Jesse: "No u." Cobie then joined the comments: "Wtf is this, let me teach you how to properly reply to this shit." Chillhouse continued: "Cobie you're a motherfucker too." Cobie replied, "Little man you are in trouble once the Coinbase comms team approves me for firing."
* Oct 26:
* Chillhouse tweeted: "I'm bridging to Base."
* Hours later, Chillhouse cue'd Cobie: "Cobie is too active in the Chillhouse Telegram chat." Cobie then posted a screenshot of a text conversation with Brian Armstrong, where Brian said he loved the "Chilled House" joke and suggested Cobie tweet "What's under a Chilled House? A BASEment! Base is for everyone!". Cobie said he wouldn't, and Brian said to ask Jesse. Minutes later, Jesse actually posted it.
* Evening: Chillhouse featured in pump.fun mobile app's news feed with the abstract headline "Chillhouse Rugs Again After Getting With Base." pump.fun official Twitter also tweeted, "Chillhouse, if you're reading this news, it's never too late to come back."
* Oct 27:
* Chillhouse daily provocation: "Fuck you Toly, fuck you Mert (Helius CEO), fuck you Solana Foundation."
* This drew a response from Toly: "Reject modernity, return to Boden, Biden 2028 comeback." Chillhouse replied, "What era are you living in bro?"
* Chillhouse posted a video skit depicting alon and Chillhouse hanging out, alon disappearing, Jesse appearing and winning Chillhouse's affection, and alon trying to text his way back in.
* Then alon entered the fray: "Fuck you Chillhouse." Chillhouse replied, "Did you fomo?" alon responded with a "I don't want to play with you anymore" image.
With that, the timeline is mostly complete. One could say Chillhouse single-handedly managed to draw out the three forces of Base, Solana, and pump.fun, orchestrating an incredible "All-Star Abstract Show."
Right as the x402 protocol was gaining heat and everyone assumed Base would push it hard, the Base camp bosses instead interacted with a Solana meme coin. Combined with alon's tweet preceding the show, the entire timeline fueled speculation—could it really be this coincidental?
Jesse's public purchase of a bag of Solana meme coins on Oct 26 deepened this speculation. That day, Jesse tweeted "I love the trenches and Troll." When asked if he had the Solana meme coin $troll, Jesse replied, "I do now," and attached his Solana address.
On-chain data shows Jesse purchased the following Solana meme coins: $chillhouse, $troll, $neet, $trencher, $house, $tokabu, and $chillguy.
So what was Jesse's real intention? Judging solely from public tweets, without speculation, Jesse seems interested in attracting quality Solana meme communities and developers. As seen in the tweet below, while Chillhouse was being erratic, Jesse seriously posted the GitHub link for the Base bridge in the comments.
Conclusion
Regardless of whether there's a酝酿中的 "big news" involving multiple parties, Chillhouse's influence has significantly increased this time, redirecting attention back to Solana and pump.fun meme coins.
This persistent, erratic style has solidified Chillhouse's positioning—it's no longer the early "frankenstein" gimmick. Through day-after-day persistence, it has found and secured its role as the "Web3 Fun-Seeker," fitting perfectly with Web3 meme culture's wild and alternative style.
When something happens in Web3, and people think of this Chillguy with a house on its head, trying to cue it for some humorous antics, Chillhouse's significance for Web3 has already surpassed Chillguy's. Though born from "stitching," it has become a native meme emblematic of this space. It's not a simple IP transplant like Chillguy, created for hype, but has begun to carry the joy and emotions of this community.
Although the Solana meme market lacks last year's glory, the past half-year's trials have revealed meme coins like this that can compete in quality and positioning with the great ETH meme coins. This is progress for Solana—community and culture are beginning to form. Truly excellent meme coins should withstand the test of time. A chain first needs long-surviving, sustainably proven meme coins before players can truly develop a sense of belonging; "P-degens" will gradually evolve into a new batch of "diamond hands."
Even though the excellent Solana meme coins still lag far behind the star ETH meme coins in market cap, haven't caught up to Solana's older meme coins, and haven't reached the heights of last year's hot launches, I've never felt these new coins were "born at the wrong time."
Because truly excellent meme coins will create a new era of their own.
