Based on your feedback we've made some new decisions on how we'll bring $BLOBZ to mainnet. First of all, it's clear that the most innovative tokens in the Ethereum ecosystem are on Base, not mainnet. So even though you'll still have to interact with mainnet to mint $BLOBZ, they'll be minted straight to your wallet on the Base L2. Base provides much higher capacity and much lower transaction fees than mainnet, which we think will lead to more applications and utility for the token.
The next decision is intended to reduce the chance for disruption of other uses of blob transactions by making the minting formula dependent on the demand for Ethereum blobs. The higher the demand, indicated by the 'blob base fee', the fewer tokens you'll be able to mint. We implement this by dividing the usual mint amount by the blob base fee (in Gwei) at the time of minting. As of this writing, blob usage is below target, so the blob base fee is at its minimum, a value of 1. As long as the blob base fee remains under 1 Gwei, the amount of $BLOBZ minted will be unaffected and at its maximum amount possible.
