“No Squares shall enter in the Circle of Winners”
Getting back into the books this week, I resumed my reading of Emotional Intelligence by Dr. David Walton. In the second chapter, he talks about handling one’s emotions and coping with the urge to ruminate. Rumination is the act of dwelling in the negative space between reality and one’s expectations. What makes this cyclical is the negative space. Choosing to dwell there can hurt you because there is nothing really there except for the negativity you choose to create.

Rumination will have you swimming in the same mud

Rather instead, you should leverage this space and create a positive goal. The gap between reality and the lack of one’s expectation doesn’t have to be negativity but rather opportunity to learn and grow.
On my last day, I went to a restaurant that serves Wagyu steak from Japan. I’ll spare the detail on the foot itself and highlight the technological idea that came up during my conversation with one of the managers. Each of the cows that come over from Japan comes with a Certificate of Authenticity as shown below. The cows are tagged by Nose print uniquely with other attributes. Immediately, my mind went to the use of blockchain and supply chains. I asked him how much of these they have on file and he said binders fully stacked. Imagine instead now having a digital ledger with traceability from the farm to the dinner table.

Adding the customer layer of an NFT could also be interesting for the use of loyalty/rewards even in the future.
Right before I left Hawaii, I came across a store by the name of Coconene. I was drawn to it because of its name, a reference to the Nene Goose. Upon entering, I was intrigued by the “Long Board Letters”. Choosing a long board of choice, customers can mix and match different characters, icons, and letters to create their own masterpiece.

I found this to be cool for one, I could see the appeal in allowing customers to get a unique experience but additional because with the right amount of gamification, this could go even further.
Check out my version below which for me symbolized the time I spent hiking Mt. Haleakala.

If you are ever in Hawaii, give it a try!

This valentine's season, we have Monroe here with us to share her thoughts on the ways creativity and love share similar threads.

“Creativity and love are both processes that require imagination, intuition, and a willingness to take risks. Both can bring people together, inspire new ideas and perspectives, and lead to personal growth and fulfillment.
Some specific similarities between creativity and love include:
Both require vulnerability: Whether you are expressing your creative ideas or opening your heart to someone else, both involve taking a chance and putting yourself out there.
Both can bring joy and excitement: Creating something new or falling in love can both bring a sense of excitement and happiness that is hard to match.
Both involve growth: Both creativity and love challenge you to stretch yourself and grow as a person. They can help you see the world and yourself in new ways.
Both require effort and dedication: Creativity and love both require a certain level of effort and commitment to maintain and grow.
Both involve giving and receiving: Whether you are sharing your creative work with others or giving love to someone else, both require a certain level of giving and receiving.
Overall, creativity and love are both powerful forces that have the ability to enrich our lives and bring us closer to others.”
