Why Storytelling Turns NFT Owners From Short-Term Flippers To Long-Term Holders
Greed may have brought you into the NFT space, but storytelling will be the reason you stay.I’ve been eyeballs deep in NFTs for 15 months and I’ve seen my fair share. The majority of people enter the NFT space with one intent — to make money. And the best way to make quick money with NFTs is to flip them. Now, I’m not against making money. Money’s great. But it’s difficult for NFT projects to develop loyal communities if everyone wants to make a quick profit. So what’s an NFT project to do? T...

Let’s face it, Marvel is the G.O.A.T.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is one of the highest grossing media franchises of all time. They singlehandedly changed the movie industry. Thanks to Marvel, stand-alone, star-powered movies went in the trash and franchised movies with shared universes went on the mantle.
But change is the only constant in life.
And movies are no exception. The industry is shifting once again. This time thanks to blockchain technology.
Digital Collectibles give brands, like Marvel, an exciting new opportunity to engage with their fans in a digital world. Given the community driven ethos of Web3, brands will need to involve their communities in the storytelling process. The Metaverse is still in its infancy and therefore ripe with opportunity.
Here are 3 reasons why Marvel is in a prime position to dominate this new frontier of storytelling and entertainment.
1. Marvel Has the Most Infamous Characters and Stories of All Time.
Marvel characters are the A-Team of superheroes.
Since 1939, when the first comic book was published, Marvel characters and stories have seeped into the public consciousness. With the arrival of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2008, the brand’s popularity skyrocketed. It’s been at the top ever since.
Marvel’s popularity and massive fanbase puts them miles ahead of the competition in the Metaverse.
2. The Cinematic Universe is Perfect for Web3 Adoption.
Vast worlds with interconnected stories are ideal for tokenized storytelling.
Overarching narratives that stretch across several movies, shows, and games provide ample opportunity for community participation on chain. For example, digital collectibles issued for a single movie could narratively tie into the blanket story and potentially unlock utility for subsequent films (discounted movie tickets, merch, collectibles, etc.). The tokens are also an excellent way to keep fans entertained in between major releases.
The opportunities for token utility and narrative tie-in here are endless.
If Marvel executes successfully, they’ll turn their millions of fans into an engaged digital community of token holders.
3. Marvel Has Disney on their Side.
Disney is a Web3/Metaverse pioneer.
They’ve already demonstrated their commitment to the space. A couple examples are…
• Releasing Digital Collectibles on VeVe. • Onboarding Polygon and other Web3 companies to its accelerator program
Considering Marvel is one of Disney’s most lucrative properties, I expect them to shepherd the brand into a dominant spot within the Metaverse.
Marvel’s path to Metaversal dominance won’t be easy. I expect tons of competition, technical hiccups, and public resistance. But at the end of the day, Marvel has everything they need to dominate in this space.
TL;DR • Marvel will dominate in the Metaverse. • They have the strongest Intellectual Property in the world. • The cinematic universe structure tees up blockchain integration wonderfully. • Marvel’s parent company (Disney) is moving aggressively into the space.
