The Unitap app serves as a gateway to networks and communities. Sometimes you just need a small amount of tokens to start using a network or to participate in a community. This can be a big problem for communities and networks. How do you distribute small amounts of crypto to onboard new users without the burden of a large amount of fake users or bots (sybil attack)?

Unitap solves this problem by using BrightID. Everyone can get verified as a unique person with the BrightID app and then connect to the Unitap app to receive a small amount of tokens. At the moment you can receive a small amount of xDAI on the Gnosis Chain and small amounts of gas tokens for some test networks.

Team members of BrightID have been discussing what role BrightID could play in such Decentralized Society (DeSoc). As BrightID creates the possibility to work with Soul Bound Tokens(SBTs), that might play a huge role, as the web3 space realizes BrightID’s potential in it. Some members of the community have great conviction that BrightID enabled SBTs have the most desirable properties amenable to DeSoc that no other implementation has been able to afford yet.
