Films are incredible things.
When done well, they take you on a wonder-filled journey into the unknown where you have the chance to experience transformation.
However, a final polished version of a successful film is not an indicator of how it got there. Most productions (even some of the best) are filled with tension, confusion and doubt.
Creating a film is very difficult. Creating a good film, is very very very difficult.
It requires people management skills, process design skills, technical skills, human coordination skills, num-chuk skills, and these are just the top of the ice-berg. Not only does a successful film crew need to possess all of these skills, they need to be coalesced into a single product that makes sense and gets a result.
The result is a transformative journey the audience receives. Indeed, all the best films you saw enabled you to see the world in a slightly different way - they altered your sense of reality.
Producing DAOs that have a creative outcomes can be thought of in the same way.
They require all of the skills mentioned above (especially the num-chuk skills) and these skills have to be directed in a direction that creates some sort of product that produces transformation.
More often than not, these results will be lackluster.
However, if the member (aka crew) experience is well designed and you harness all the skills needed; you will have an massively increased your chances of creating meaningful change with the DAO.
