When we engage in DAO, one of two things happen over time:
You will spend energy.
That spend becomes an investment or liability.
Energy comes in many forms; time, money, emotions, spiritual, and cognition are some that we use on a regular basis. ** **
We have been led to believe by the industrialist system that money and time are the most important ones when it comes to getting work done.
The truth is that it takes the interplay of multiple forms of energy to effectively build or contribute to anything.
When I consider contribution to a DAO, I ask myself “what could the return on energy be for me if I engage in the community?” If I sniff an energy liability, I stay away.
How are your contributors answering the ROE question?
The good news is that by deploying strategic empathy we can design DAOs to give a positive ROE for their contributors.
It all starts with intentionally creating experiences of wonder.
