Behind every great movement is a heartbeat. For Operation Safe Place (OSP) and The Citadel, that heartbeat belongs to Uncle Funk and Mrs. Funk — two people who have spent nearly three decades giving their lives to protect children, build communities and create safe spaces where there were none.

They’ve worked in the toughest areas, where being a little girl is statistically the most dangerous thing you can be. They’ve fought burnout, financial strain and the endless uphill battle of fundraising — yet they’ve never stopped.

Now, through the OSP Game and The Citadel, they’re building something more sustainable: an ecosystem where gaming and Web3 fuel real-world protection, food and hope for kids.

Weekends and school holidays are the most dangerous times for children in high-poverty areas of South Africa. With no childcare, no supervision and alcohol flowing, exploitation and abuse skyrocket.
