Weekly Highlights
Several issues with the testnet were fixed, such as some storage nodes not being able to verify idle space and issues sending TEE Workers random challenge verification requests. The storage network is now working well.
CESS Node now supports the storage node expansion feature, and the storage node staking module has been upgraded. This allows for the separation of staking accounts, revenue accounts, and work accounts, enabling storage nodes to join the network in a more diversified manner.
Optimization and upgrade of the go-sdk were completed this week. The SDK now better supports various functionalities of DeOSS, and the user operation guide has been updated to enhance developers’ user experience.
CESS’s developer relations, Jimmy, participated in the ‘Mentor Q&A’ organized by 2023 Winter Polkadot Hackathon, providing guidance and answering questions for everyone.
CESS is honored to welcome Howard R. Jean, M.S. Ed., joined as an Advisor.
Project Development Details
The CESS testnet has been updated to v0.7.5 and consists of consensus nodes and storage nodes. Consensus nodes maintain the world state of the CESS network (by CESS Node)and serve as the “data authentication station” (by TEE Worker). Storage nodes provide verifiable storage space and serve as the “data storage pool” in the CESS network.
1. Consensus Miner [v0.7.5]
Fixed the issue where TEE Workers couldn’t register after the CESS Node substrate framework upgrade.
Split TEE Workers into multiple types based on service functionalities and allowed consensus nodes to bind multiple TEE Workers.
Added support for storage node expansion in CESS Node for dynamic management of declared storage capacity.
Upgraded the CESS Node storage node staking module, supporting the separation of staking accounts, revenue accounts, and work accounts.
2. Storage Miner [v0.7.6]
Fixed RPC errors when storage nodes sent random challenge verification requests to TEE Workers.
Fixed the issue where verification data did not match the status data due to transaction failure when storage nodes authenticated idle space.
Resolved inconsistencies in status data when storage nodes concurrently executed idle space authentication and service data replacement processes.
Added version number check functionality, stopping the program when the storage node’s current version does not match the chain.
Added functionality to pause Tag calculation tasks in case of exceptional service file Tag calculation requests.
Fixed the issue of storage nodes generating too many invalid transaction requests during data recovery.
CESS is a blockchain powered decentralized storage and content delivery network (CDN) infrastructure for Web3. By utilizing a decentralized physical infrastructure network (DePIN) model, CESS drives mass deployment of network nodes globally through incentives. The first of its kind, decentralized object storage services (DeOSS) by CESS has significantly contributed to the gradual enrichment and flourishing of the product ecosystem within the CESS network, online file sharing tool (DeShare), and public chain snapshot storage services have been incubated. The developments for this week are as follows:
Decentralized Object Storage Service (DeOSS)
Completed optimization and upgrade of the go-sdk, enhancing support for various functionalities of DeOSS.
Updated and improved the user operation guide for the go-sdk to enhance developers’ user experience.
Testnet
Overview:
10 days after the v0.7.5 testnet was launched. More details on the blockchain explorer. If you encounter any issues building a node, please seek assistance on CESS Discord.
10 consensus nodes
736 storage nodes
517.28 TiB effective storage space
3.52 PiB total storage space
Event:
The miner reward event for the CESS testnet continued as storage and consensus miners can earn points by participating. Points can be exchanged for CESS tokens when the mainnet launches.
