Weekly Highlights
Improved file upload efficiency for storing user files on nodes.
Introduced file fragment tagging, optimizing user data management.
Upgraded Kaleido architecture for enhanced data transfer.
Attended HK Web3 Month and Latin American Bitcoin & Blockchain Conference.
Sponsored the 2023 Winter Polkadot Hackathon.
Project Development Details:
Current testnet: v0.7.4 consists of consensus and storage nodes. *Consensus nodes maintain the world state of the CESS network (by CESS Node)and serve as the “data authentication station” (by TEE Worker). Storage nodes provide verifiable storage space and serve as the “data storage pool” in the CESS network.*
Consensus Miner [v0.7.4]
Fine tuned the frequency of initiating random challenges to improve network performance, reducing the workload on storage nodes and TEE Worker.
Upgraded the file uploading functionality, enhancing the efficiency of users file persistence.
Implemented file fragment tagging functionality in CESS Node for precise management of file fragments.
Streamlined the code structure of CESS Node, reducing the metadata of storage orders and alleviating the storage burden on the blockchain.
Upgraded the TEE Worker network architecture, separating it from the p2p network for easier maintenance and future upgrades.
Transferred the registration process of TEE Worker from Kaleido internals to the rotator program, reducing unnecessary performance overhead.
Storage Miner [v0.7.5]
Implemented the reporting functionality for stored user files on storage nodes based on the new file upload mechanism.
Resolved the issue where storage nodes were unable to obtain idle space proof keys from TEE Worker.
Upgraded the interaction process between storage nodes and TEE Worker, utilizing a dedicated network to enhance data transmission efficiency.
The mission of CESS is to provide Web3 with practical storage services. The product ecosystem of the current CESS network is becoming more robust and prosperous. Innovative applications such as decentralized object storage service (DeOSS), online file sharing tool (DeShare), and public chain snapshot storage service have been incubated. Users can experience these functions.
Decentralized Object Storage Service (DeOSS)
Completed the upgrade of the DeOSS file upload process, enabling DeOSS to select the most efficient storage nodes for storing user files in the new process.
Removed data transmission restrictions imposed by the ShareSwap mechanism, enhancing data sharing efficiency among DeOSS instances.
Resolved version conflict issues in DeOSS when using the p2p-go library.
Testnet
Overview:
8 consensus nodes and 598 storage nodes registered with almost 521.75 TiB effective storage space and 6.90 PiB total storage space within 13 days after the v0.7.4 testnet was launched. More details on the blockchain explorer.
If you encounter any issues building a node, please seek assistance on CESS Discord.
Event:
The miner reward event for the CESS testnet continued as storage and consensus miners can earn points by participating. Points can be exchanged for CESS tokens when the mainnet launches.
Community Activities
