Weekly Highlights
Testnet v0.7.4 Launch: Major optimizations to random challenges, idle space proof, penalty/reward system, and more.
Consensus Node Updates: Improved storage node registration, random challenge parameter settings, and introduced the ability to purchase storage space for other accounts.
Bug Fixes & Enhanced Scalability: Resolved issues including storage nodes failing random challenges, IP retrieval exceptions, and idle space authentication blockages. Enhanced storage space scalability.
Nominated for Prime Vote on Huobi exchange — Thank you to those who voted for CESS!
Participation in AMAs and Twitter Space events.
Project Development Details:
Current testnet: v0.7.4 consists of consensus and storage nodes. *Consensus nodes maintain the world state of the CESS network (by CESS Node)and serve as the “data authentication station” (by TEE Worker). Storage nodes provide verifiable storage space and serve as the “data storage pool” in the CESS network.*
Consensus Miner [v0.7.4]
Implemented the feature for users to purchase space for other accounts, providing robust support for future application layer extensions.
Upgraded the registration process for storage nodes on the chain to enhance the security of the storage network.
Updated parameters in CESS Node related to random challenges, reducing instances where nodes cannot pass the challenge due to insufficient time.
Storage Miner [v0.7.5]
Fixed the issue where storage nodes were unable to pass random challenges due to erroneously deleted service data.
Resolved exceptions that occurred in some storage nodes when obtaining external IPs.
Enhanced the storage space scalability for storage nodes, enabling a corresponding increase in the staked amount when expanding space.
Fixed the problem where storage nodes were blocked in the idle space authentication process due to network failures.
The mission of CESS is to provide Web3 with practical storage services. The product ecosystem of the current CESS network is becoming more robust and prosperous. Innovative applications such as decentralized object storage service (DeOSS), online file sharing tool (DeShare), and public chain snapshot storage service have been incubated. Users can experience these functions.
Decentralized Object Storage Service (DeOSS)
The development of the blacklist and whitelist functionality allows users to customize DeOSS gateway access policies.
Completed the updates to node registration-related data structures and transaction processes in the go-sdk to align with upcoming upgrade work.
Files sharing URL generator Tool(DeShare)
Implemented the functionality in DeShare that enables users to send file information to their email.
Upgraded the DeShare file information display feature to provide more detailed information, including file names.
Testnet
Overview:
10 consensus nodes and 580 storage nodes registered with almost 149.04 TiB effective storage space and 6.22 PiB total storage space within 6 days after the v0.7.4 testnet was launched. More details on the blockchain explorer.
If you encounter any issues building a node, please seek assistance on CESS Discord.
Event:
The miner reward event for the CESS testnet continued as storage and consensus miners can earn points by participating. Points can be exchanged for CESS tokens when the mainnet launches.
Community Activities
CESS launched testnet v0.7.4 on Oct 30th. This update introduces optimizations across three core modules: Storage Nodes, Consensus Nodes, and Decentralized Object Storage Service (DeOSS).
