This belief paints a picture where a successful artist is one who is always creating, releasing new tracks, and perpetually in a state of artistic output. This myth has likely stemmed from the glorification of 'busyness' and...

Building community gas-free and albums as smart contracts.
Hey there, Happy Tuesday!
Let's dive straight in. Today, I want to talk about something that's been on my mind a lot lately - community building. It’s been a wild ride in the crypto space, hasn't it? Sky-high gas fees on Ethereum and a rollercoaster of a market. It can be enough to give anyone pause. But here's a fun fact - building community doesn't cost any gas!
I get it, the current Ethereum gas fees can be a real motivation killer. But let's not forget that at the heart of all this blockchain tech are the people. Our community, our fans, our collectors - the people who vibe with our work. The relationships we nurture don’t need any on-chain transactions. Trust me, the returns you get from investing time and effort into your community are worth more than any low-gas day.
Think about it this way. We can create spaces and experiences that don't need a single transaction on the mainnet. Host a community call on Discord, do a Q&A on Telegram, or even run a contest. If you want to reward your community, Layer 2 solutions like Polygon, Optimism, or Arbitrum can help by providing low-cost ways to appreciate their actions and engagement.
Today, we have platforms like Bonfire at our disposal, allowing us to create token-gated experiences that can truly make our community feel special. Imagine giving your fans an exclusive listen to your unreleased tracks, behind-the-scenes videos, or even special merch - all token-gated to provide them with that VIP experience. All this without needing to wrestle with high fees.
Yes, the costs of deploying contracts and selling NFTs are a part of this journey. But they're not the whole story. We've got so many more tools in our toolkit to create and foster our communities, regardless of network congestion or fee spikes.
So, let's not get discouraged by the temporary setbacks. Instead, let's get creative and continue building these incredible spaces for our communities. Remember, we're in this for the long run. We are just getting started!
I’m really excited to share that 'Hurts’ [The Remixes] album just smashed through 500,000 streams on Spotify! That's half a million moments we've shared through music - can you believe it?
I'm in awe, and I just wanted to say a big THANK YOU to each and every one of you. Your support has been my rocket fuel, making my dreams a reality, and for that, I am forever grateful. It’s not just about the numbers, it's about the journey we're on together.
As a little celebration, I'm happy to share that one of the 'Hurts' remixes will soon be released on sound.xyz and available on charliecrown.xyz powered by Bonfire. It's going to be a blast, and I can't wait for you all to be a part of it. Stay tuned to my Twitter for all the details on supply, price, and allowlists.
More music coming soon!
What if we viewed artists or albums as smart contracts and songs as tokens within those contracts? Now, that might sound a bit out there, but stick with me.
You see, this way of thinking could potentially save you a good chunk on gas fees. Instead of using ERC-721 for individual songs, why not give ERC-1155 a go? Consider creating an ERC-1155 contract for a full album, with each song being a token with its own ID, price, and supply.
Sure, deploying the initial ERC-1155 contract could be a little pricey (usually still cheaper than ERC-721 though), but the real savings come when you don't have to deploy a new contract for each song.
The catch? This won't work if you want different artwork or IDs for each edition of the song. But, if you're willing to forgo that, ERC-1155 could be a game-changer.
Keep experimenting!
