What is CityDAO?

The CityDAO community is made up of ambitious and HIGHLY curious people exploring and building at the frontier of technology, governance experiments and physical land.

The vision of CityDAO is to build the city of the future on the Ethereum blockchain by experimenting with tokenizing land, rights, and governance. 🏙

🌆 Parcel 0 real life<>web3 experiment incoming!

Soooo… a few days ago an idea bubbled up in the parcel-0 channel for a project. Shout-out to J0sh who posted the message that led to this adventure kicking off.

This is a great example of how ideas can get fired up in web3 communities. I’ll post some screenshots to give an idea:

This is a great initiative from the Education Guild and will allow us to explore and research important topics related to CityDAO.

Voting is the bedrock of democracy. We usually think of democracy as the opposite of dictatorship. Yet, democracy can tend toward a de facto dictatorship without additional checks on power, clearly defeating the purpose. It seems self-evident voting to reach public consensus is often ideal. However, it is easy to lose sight of the fact that voting is a nebulous and complex topic. Many ill-liberal and anti-democratic consequences may result depending on the mechanism chosen to conduct voting.
