We're kicking off the year with our second traditional label release - Daniel Allan's new song with Liv Grace Blue called "Take Me Under". It marks a new chapter for Coop Recs where we're continuing to build out our label infrastructure to distribute songs across all DSPs and build out a wider catalog of masters that underpin everything we do.
It comes in tandem with us starting to roll out more campaigns for clip.energy - our new clipping app which pays fans for posting videos from shows. It's all a part of our wider intention to build a content engine which rewards fans for supporting their favorite artists and songs - core to our mission of building a community owned record label which we've been iterating on for the past few years.

We'll be running campaigns this weekend for Laszewo in Tokyo, Jackie Hollander in LA and ALIGN in Chicago as we look to keep iterating and testing out our beta for a hopeful public release at the end of this quarter. If you'd like to learn more or are interested in setting up a campaign for an upcoming show - reach out to coop@cooprecords.xyz for our partner deck to hear more!
It's been an interesting start to the year here at Coop Recs - we're doing our best to not be so reliant on the macro crypto environment and this means resourcing the label and clipping app more than our songcoin funnel. With the recent closure of sound.xyz - we find ourselves in a weird spot when it comes to thinking about the future of onchain music and coins + editions more broadly. While we'll always remain a believer in these at their core - we've shifted our focus to only releasing songs on cooprecords.xyz that we have ownership in from the record label, giving a more direct relationship between the real-world performance of the song and the coin that exists onchain.
It'll take some time to think about how we tie these pieces together, but we feel strongly that taking a step back on the number of onchain releases we do in favor of building out a more tried and true label pipeline that connects back to our coins is the most viable path forward to our drops finding real demand and adoption from fans at some point in the future.
All that goes to say - the start of this year looks much different from last, but it's all with the intention of finding more direct ways to reach real music fans instead of servicing crypto degens and traders. We appreciate everyone for giving us the time and space to figure out this next chapter and look forward to breaking records in the real world as a testament to our commitment of supporting and developing up and coming music.
This is symbolic of us paying out more than 70 ETH (or $210k) to artists in unclaimed earnings this week - highlighting our ability to generate unique income that would have otherwise never existed for our roster of 200+ acts.
Thanks for bearing with us - and we look forward to finding our place in this ever changing world!
