Clip.energy is live and in full swing - with campaigns being seeded across both Groove Cruise in Florida and a variety of shows in Japan from artists like Laszewo and Tape B.
We've been putting all our product effort into perfecting one very simple concept - get paid for post clips from your favorite shows. We believe this is a super powerful mechanism to get fans paid for work that influences an artist's success and we want you to be a part of it. Our newest feature allows anyone to download and re-share a video uploaded from a fan. When your videos gets plays on Tiktok, you split the cash rewards with the fan who uploaded the clip.
Under the hood - this means getting really granular on offramping and making sure fans can turn the USDC rewards they get into cash in their bank account. It may not sound that glamorous on the surface but we believe building a very simple product that can make a very big impact in the lives of fans and artists will go a long way. It's interesting to think about our shift in our core target user as being a fan that gets paid out instead of an artist. When we explain to artists why we're taking the same campaign budgets we were running on platforms like Boost and Layer3 to drive editions sales and instead suggest giving it to the fans - they're immediately stoked on it and have no reservation about making less from Coop Records if it means their fans make more.
This highlights a wider energy that can be seen across the board in the crypto space today. There are some very hard truths coming to light about the difficulty of building consumers apps for crypto users - especially if the core focus of that app is not trading and speculating.
All that being said - this leaves Coop Recs in a spot where we really have to control our own destiny. With our second label release under our belt - we're now looking to sign new records and scale our traditional label infrastructure, a mission that has very little to do with crypto and a lot more to do with music.
I'm very optimistic that if clip.energy strikes a chord with fans, there's a reality where the rewards being funnels through the clipping app directly impact streams and the music we're able to sign on the label. All that being said - 2026 is a make or break year for us at Coop Recs, and we can't wait to get more fans paid for the shows they go to every day.
