No compartir tus claves!

What is staking?
A process where you lock up your tokens to support security on the blockchain and in return you receive rewards. The reward depends on where you stake.
How does staking work?
Staking seeks to increase the value of cryptocurrencies in the user's portfolio. To achieve this, reward mechanisms are used that keep tokens locked in a system.
To stake
Buy tokens of the desired cryptocurrency.
Deposit the tokens into a specific staking wallet.
The wallet will use your tokens to validate transactions.
In return, you will receive rewards in the same cryptocurrency.
More tokens locked = more chances of higher rewards.
An ingenious solution: Liquid staking Liquid staking solves the problem of token locking by allowing users to stake their tokens without locking them. Hot DeFi Metapool: A platform born in MXC. Project focused on liquid staking. Addresses the challenges of staking on PoS networks such as lack of liquidity. Fun fact: In Metapool you can do liquid staking of Ethereum, Solana, Near, Aurora and Q (Optimism soon). |
What are the advantages and disadvantages of staking?
Advantages
Open access: Unlike traditional mining, which requires expensive hardware and consumes a lot of energy, staking is generally more accessible.
Decentralized: Staking is done on decentralized networks, which means there is no central authority that controls the process.
Self-custody: When you stake, you don't let anyone else handle your cryptocurrencies. You have full control of your funds and can withdraw them at any time.
Transparency: Staking rewards are generally transparent and predictable. You can know how much you will earn before you start staking.
Trustless: You don't need to trust an institution, it's completely decentralized.
No permissions: Anyone can stake, without the need to obtain special permissions or licenses.
Interoperability: Many cryptocurrencies can be staked on different platforms. This gives you the flexibility to choose the platform that best suits your needs.
Disadvantages
Scalability: Some PoS networks may have scalability issues, meaning they may not be able to handle a large volume of transactions. This can lead to network congestion and longer transaction times.
Uncertainty: The value of cryptocurrencies can fluctuate, and you could lose money if the price of the cryptocurrency you are staking falls.
Liquidity concerns: Your cryptocurrencies will be locked for a certain period of time while you are staking. This means that you will not be able to sell them or use them for other transactions during that time.
Shared responsibility (advantage and disadvantage).
Volatility: The cryptocurrency market is volatile, which means the value of your investments can fluctuate significantly.
Scam risk: It is important to choose a reliable and secure staking platform to avoid scams. Carefully research the platform before depositing your cryptocurrencies
CAUTION with security in the crypto world because one of its weak points is that it is full of scams, so here are some tips to protect your security:
If they promise you that you are going to make a lot of money, be very careful.
Beware of cryptocurrency giveaways, promises of investment returns.
Secure your wallet or exchange account. Do not share your keys!
Beware of phishing scams (example: fake airdrops on Twitter).
Verify that the application is verified and not a copy.
Have different wallets for playing or taking risks (Example: 1inch wallet).
Now, let's take action, how to stake?
STAKING SIMULATION USING A TESTNET
To get started, we will test a testnet called FILLiquid
Go to the FILLiquid page and click on "Join Testnet".
Connect your wallet to the testnet. In this case, I used Metamask.
Get "free coins" to stake for testing We can get those coins (tFIL) from the following faucet: https://faucet.calibnet.chainsafe-fil.io/funds.html. Enter your wallet address and click "Send Funds".
Done! You now have coins. With that, go back to the FILLiquid page and let's stake. In the "Stake" section, enter an amount of FIL coins that you have available to stake and click "Confirm".
Congratulations! You have successfully staked your first tFIL coins on the FILLiquid testnet.
Please note that this is just a simulation using a testnet. You will not receive any real rewards from staking on the testnet.
To stake real cryptocurrencies, you will need to use a real staking platform.
Before staking any cryptocurrency, it is important to do your research and choose a reputable platform.
You should also be aware of the risks involved in staking, such as the possibility of losing money if the value of the cryptocurrency drops.
Please stake responsibly!
