The flash of light subsided. I was now sky-high in a translucent futuristic spaceship.
I looked down at the endless, gleaming tech-landscape scrolling past beneath me. Streams of data and electricity flowed through it like traffic.
A face, half-human and half-machine, appeared on a viewscreen above me. He called himself the CyberBanker and welcomed me to the MetaVerse.
I asked how I got there and he said my desire to save creators brought me there. I asked how to save them and he said "Become their army." I reminded him I was just one samurai. He responded "You must tokenize yourself."
He pointed out living artwork moving beneath us. They wore protective spacesuits that said "NFT" on the side, flying majestically over and through the MetaVerse's vast database cities. "Be like them," he said.
When I asked how I could do this, he said "Use the creators' strength. Find CryptoAnime." Before I could ask what that was, a warning saying "Ejection Activated" replaced his face on the screen.
And like that, I was shot out of his ship, rocketing up and out of the stratosphere of the MetaVerse. Like you humans say: "Out of the frying pan, into the fire."

Post Soundtrack: Play To Win - Heaven 17
Into the author’s mind: While figuring out the CyberBanker's character, I thought of the new wave dandies I grew up watching on MTV: David Bowie, Duran Duran, Ultravox, ABC... and Heaven 17. The latter act produced an all-time synthpop classic in their Penthouse And Pavement album and their image of business chic with a New Romantic twist struck me as a great model for CyberBanker's style. This song comes from that album and its pragmatic advice about getting ahead in tough world fits both the scene and the CyberBanker persona to a 't.'
