Somewhere between midnight and morning — when the streets glow with rain-soaked neon and the noise of the day finally fades — there exists an hour few people notice.
We call it The Baine Hour.
It’s the moment when time loosens its grip just enough for something strange to slip through.
A conversation that shouldn't happen.
A look that lasts too long.
A drink raised in silent understanding between two people who know the clock is lying.
That moment became the seed of a short piece I recently published.
Not just a story — but the beginning of a larger world.
The Baine Hour is part of an expanding narrative universe I’m building called Cypher Noir Citadel.
It lives somewhere between:
• cyberpunk
• noir fiction
• occult symbolism
• late-night philosophical observation
Stories unfold in quiet spaces most people pass without noticing:
Rainlit bars.
Citadel corridors.
Midnight city streets.
Rooms where clocks tick but time doesn't behave.
These stories explore a simple question:
What happens when people step outside the rhythm of ordinary time?
The first transmission is now live:
The Baine Hour
https://sz5tack.ghost.io/the-baine-hour/
It’s a short atmospheric scene set inside a dim citadel bar where two strangers recognize something rare in one another — the ability to stand outside the clock.
The moment unfolds slowly:
A violet drink.
A ticking chronometer.
Two people who understand that tonight belongs to their kind.
For readers curious about the deeper lore, I also posted a free companion piece explaining the ideas behind the story.
You can read it here:
https://www.patreon.com/posts/152288076?pr=true
Inside the post I talk about:
• The meaning behind The White Horse Hour
• Why violet appears throughout the story
• The symbolism of the clock
• The early foundations of the Cypher Noir Citadel universe
It’s completely free to read.
The Citadel world is expanding into:
• short stories
• interactive scenarios
• noir-themed artwork
• lore dossiers
• artifacts and sigils
• worldbuilding archives
Patreon will function as the private wing of the Citadel — where deeper pieces, drafts, and experimental world-building appear first.
Think of it as the Operator’s lounge behind the bar.
If you enjoy writing that sits somewhere between:
Blade Runner
Night City
Occult noir
and late-night philosophy
Then you’ll probably feel at home in the Citadel.
The Baine Hour is just the first door.
Transmission Ends
The Baine Hour glides again tonight.
