Dexes is a cutting-edge ecosystem of blockchain applications designed to enable users to publish, exchange and authenticate electronic documents and signatures in a completely peer-to-peer (P2P) environment.
To achieve this, Dexes leverages two powerful technologies:
OpenPGP: An open standard that ensures secure and interoperable signing, encryption and verification of electronic documents and signatures.
Blockchain: Serving as a global, decentralized and tamper-proof ledger, blockchain acts as both a system of record and an exchange medium. It allows users and applications to publish, retrieve and manage public keys which are essential for signing, encrypting and verifying electronic documents and signatures stored on the blockchain.
With Dexes, users gain a fully decentralized, secure, and reliable platform to manage digital transactions and documents in a transparent and trustless manner.
The project was initiated in response to the mandatory implementation of electronic invoicing in Belgium, starting January 1, 2026.
Current electronic invoicing systems, such as the one based on the PEPPOL network, fail to guarantee the authenticity and confidentiality of invoices, making them vulnerable to fraud. Invoice fraud can have devastating impacts on individuals and businesses and is often linked to more serious crimes such as VAT carousel fraud, money laundering and trafficking.
Cybersecurity risks such as identity theft, deep fakes, espionage and disinformation are only increasing. This highlight the urgent need for secure solutions to exchange and verify electronic documents.
Dexes aims to address these issues by allowing the exchange and authentication of any electronic content. Users have the freedom to choose their preferred exchange and storage methods as well as their preferred security algorithms. The system is designed in a way which ensures only final recipients can read the documents and verify them without the need of a third-party service or authority.

Sorry /ethereum, you are our target for our daily streak but we have a good excuse: We are building a real product on ethereum. That product is Dexes. One of its use case aims to provide a better and safer alternative to the European network for electronic invoices (PEPPOL) all EU companies will have to use by 2026.
