Forma, the first sovereign rollup live on Celestia and built on the Astria stack with custom precompiles for onchain metadata, is a purpose-built chain that focuses on fully onchain creations. It uses the TIA token as its native gas asset and utilizes EVM as its execution environment.
The Forma network has already launched on mainnet, enabling anyone to building onchain. As a decentralized and permissionless network, it provides open access for all users and developers to interact with it.
Currently, Forma operates on a dedicated instance of the Astria Sequencing Layer called forma-net. This centralized system comprises four Astria sequencer nodes using CometBFT for consensus and submits blobs to the Celestia network.
Forma's development roadmap includes plans to integrate with Astria's Decentralized Sequencing Layer. This transition is expected to coincide with Astria's mainnet launch later this year.
