Season 2 Launch
gm Season 2 🌞 February 1 kicks off the next iteration of Developer DAO and hopes to bring with it a more streamlined member experience, more frequent community events and more stable teams to deliver them. First though, let’s take a moment to reintroduce D_D.A Brief HistoryDeveloper DAO is about 16 months young. Still, in crypto years, that's old enough to get a Lambo license. The origin story, including Nader's live-streamed genesis NFT deployment, is captured here. Since that lau...
Hello Web3 World
My hope is to have the story of Developer DAO told through the voices of its many members from all over the globe. My version of the story is no more important than any other, but we’ve got to start somewhere. So, here it goes. I’ve watched DAOs from the sidelines for years. Happily, I missed the boat on “The DAO” - one of the first large-scale attempts to democratize governance over publicly invested funds. In 2016, this project failed spectacularly after a hacker drained the smart contract ...

We’re excited to announce Developer DAO’s AR.IO Gateway is now live!
As a community, we’re now actively contributing to decentralising access to Arweave data and the permaweb by hosting our Gateway.
You can now read Arweave data and access any permaweb site via arweave.developerdao.com - or access sites on the Permaweb, such as the Permaweb Cookbook, via cookbook.arweave.developerdao.com.
Of course, this is OSS, so you can fork it and go here. For a full guide on deploying your gateway, look for our course launching this week on Academy.
Decentralising access to blockchain networks is as crucial as decentralising the network itself, as without it, your ability to access the network can be taken away.
We’re proud to play our role in supporting this effort.
Our gateway is ultimately owned and governed by our community. You.
Participating as a Gateway in the AR.IO Network testnet not only empowers us to support the decentralisation of Arweave together but also presents the community with an opportunity to sustainably fund the DAO via potential network rewards in the future of AR.IO Network’s mainnet.
The governance of gateway parameters will remain centralised during AR.IO Network’s testnet. When the Network reaches mainnent, changes to parameters on the gateway (such as % commission) will require a governance proposal via Snapshot, handing oversight of the gateway to our community of tokenholders.

There are two ways to support our gateway.
First, we’d love to see you using our gateway for your projects. If you’re reading data from Arweave, you can do so using GraphQL via our gateway here: https://arweave.developerdao.com/graphql
If you’re new to building on Arweave, check out our course at https://academy.developerdao.com/tracks/arweave-101, where you can learn everything about building apps on Arweave.
If you’re holding the testnet IO token, tIO, you can also support our gateway by delegating a stake to the gateway. Doing this increases the likelihood that our gateway will be chosen as an observer and potentially receive additional rewards in tIO. When we receive rewards, you will, too, minus a small commission of 10% to the DAO.
If you’ve already claimed the DD OG special quest as part of AR.IO’s EXPerience, you’ll soon receive airdropped tIO tokens as a reward. We’d appreciate your stake!
If not, you can learn more about tIO tokens and how to obtain them by visiting the ar.io website: https://ar.io/test-io.
We’ve launched the first lesson of our second Arweave track, which focuses on AR.IO Gateways. Take this lesson today to learn how to use AR.IO Gateways locally in your development environment.
Our next lesson, Deploying AR.IO Gateways to Production, will showcase how to deploy your own Gateway and join the AR.IO-incentivised testnet.
Lastly, next week, with AR.IO, we’ve teamed up with Akash Network to release the final lesson in the track, showcasing how to deploy AR.IO Gateways to Akash’s decentralised infrastructure.
Pay attention, as there will be some surprise rewards on offer.
