We are approaching the final stretch of Season 4 in the Mystic Era for Axie Infinity: Origins. This should be the time when the Top players are starting to bring out their secret weapons to fight the meta as we have less than 2 days to go to the end of the Season!
tldr:
Topaz is still the most popular followed by Jinx and Sustain at the Top
Brutal Claw and Metamorphosis are two new archetypes that could do well in the Top meta
It seems like Topaz will remain as the dominant archetype at the Top of the Leaderboard, especially given that players already have the Axies, Runes, and Charms for Topaz and many players may not want to spend a large sum to get another high performing optimised team.
Topaz, Jinx, and Sustain are what you will mostly see at Top 200. There starts to be a bit more Poison as we get to Top 500 and Top 1000. The rest of the archetypes are all at or below 3% usage at all levels with Top 1000.
Two archetypes I would like to highlight here are Metamorphosis and Brutal Claw, which are relatively new archetype that broke into the Top 100.

If we look at the archetype distribution by Elo at Challenger, we see a similar story at above 1900 Elo populated with Topaz, Jinx, Sustain, and Poison. At 1800-1900 Elo, we start to see Glorious Mane and AoE being popular, presumably because the teams are relative cheap and casual players from previous season already have the Axies for the archetypes and do not plan to invest in getting a new team for the Season.
[Beware that the colours for each Archetype may change between Charts below as the Charts are sorted and coloured by popularity.]

Collect & Protect, Last Stand, and Holy Prayer are by far the most used Runes at the Top 100, 200, and 500. Most Topaz players would go for this setup because these 3 Runes are simply the strongest in terms of power level. Topaz teams are known for its raw power even without any Runes and Charms. I would expect some nerfs for these 3 Runes in the next Season along with Topaz nerfs but we will see.
It is interesting to see Endless Anger being more popular near the Top in terms of proportion. It is not surprising given its power level, especially getting an extra energy when going into Fury which usually couples with a Cottontail for massive Ronin damage. The fact that Endless Anger is relatively pricey is probably the reason why we do not see as many Endless Anger as we go down the Leaderboard.

Charm of Vitality II and I, Scotch Tape, and Energy Drink M are all Neutral Runes which make up the Top 4 most popular Runes used in Top 100 and 200. The main one that is worth highlighting is Energy Drink M which are more concentrated at the Top as it is a Mystic Rune, making it less accessible for players lower down the Leaderboard who may not want to spend on the rune. The power level of the runes is very high, especially with Banish. I would expect Energy Drink M to be nerfed next season given its power level and high usage. Similar can be said for Scotch Tape but it is harder to see who they may nerf Scotch Tape without a big change (maybe similar to the change with Pre-order Tag?).

As Axie Infinity: Origins continues its development, I would expect we will get to a point where we have enough Runes and Charms that each Season we will have some sort of “rotating” sets of Runes and Charms so we see more variety in Runes and Charms usage (and which will also have an impact on power level and usage of different archetypes).
Sustain, Metamorphosis, and Brutal Claw are the top 3 performing archetypes in terms of overall win rates at Top 100 and 200. If you are planning on making a climb at the final push in Season 4, Sustain might be your best bet in terms of Axies availability as the other two archetypes are very new and not many good Axies are available on the marketplace for Metamorphosis and Brutal Claw.
Topaz and Leafy both have win rates very close to 50% across Top 1000, so these two could be safe choices if you want to just play 5 games and maintain our rank. Two popular archetypes, Jinx and Poison, are not doing too well at below 50% win rate for most of Top 1000, but still good enough to not drop too many ranks near the end of the Season.

The 3 archetypes that have the highest overall win rates all have positive matchups against Topaz. Sustain is toughest for Topaz followed by Metamorphosis (also with a lot of Shield) and Brutal Claw (which makes Topaz loses a lot of HP from Bleed). Other than those 3 matchups, all other matchups are good for Topaz. Just hope you will not queue into those 3 matchups during your final push in the Season.
By now, Last Stand, Collect & Protect, and Holy Prayer are the staple for Topaz. Endless Anger is another popular take in place of Holy Prayer at Challenger to more burst damage with Fury + Cottontail + Ronin.

Jinx is not in a good spot as it is not great against Topaz, Metamorphosis, Brutal Claw, and Leafy. It is also not doing well against Poison at Top 100 and 200. The only hope is to just queue into Sustain and Pure Damage Sturdy Fighter every game or have amazing luck with discards.
Collect & Protect with Square Teeth has become the dominant Jinx variant at the Top 100 and 200. Wicked Ward is still a staple across Top 1000. Calcium Armor is picking up popularity due its repeated value of 40+ Shield every Round.

There is not really a lot of Poison at the very Top but it is pretty popular at mid-low Challenger. It does well against Sustain, Glorious Mane, and Brutal Claw. The repeated Sleep makes it difficult for the Beasts where Confidence is not a reliable Cleanse due to the existance of Poison stacks. Otherwise, Poison is not doing too great, especially against Topaz at the highest level as Topaz simply deals too much damage.
There is a bit of experimentation with Last Stand and Healing Force with the Top Poison build to survive for longer and to deal some extra damage.

Sustain has very polarising matchups as usual. It is very good against Topaz which makes it one of the best archetypes to climb with. It is also great against Leafy as Leafy teams cannot go through the Shields.
Sustain loses very hard to Pure Damage Strudy Fighter and Brutal Claw. Grievous Wound and Bleed wear down Sustain unless Sustain have a lot of Cleanse. Jinx is also a tough matchup for Sustain as before.
Adaptive Program, Shield Backup, and Holy Prayer are the main 3 Runes for Sustain. Some Sustain teams opt for Shellshock instead of Shield Backup to deal more damage when the Secrets are revealed.

Leafy is not the best against Topaz and Sustain, but otherwise it has pretty good matchups against all other archetypes. Its weakness against Topaz is holding it back. Leaf Cloak and Last Stand are its best defense to race against Topaz. Endless Anger can be good in place of Miracle Leafy as EA provides the extra Energy to race against other teams.

It is a very new archetype and there are not a lot of data on it yet. It is still at the very early phase of optimisation with 2 main variants - the Feather variant and the double Teal Shell variant.
Metamorphosis is good against Topaz and Jinx, which is all that matters in the current meta even though it suffers from Sustain and Leafy.

This is the latest archetype that broke into the Top 100. Triple Chubby, Triple Dual Blade, and a Brutal Claw Beast with 4 AoE parts. Its matchup spread makes it an amazing choice to counter the meta as it does well against Topaz, Jinx, and Sustain. Sure it may lose to Poison, Heart of Ocean, and Leafy, but these are not too popular at the Top 200.
Having said that, if you are lower in the leaderboard where there are more Poison, Brutal Claw is not the best of choice given the Cleanse from Gecko eyes and Sleep onto the Brutal Claw Beast make the matchup very difficult for Brutal Claw teams.

We do not see any Glorious team at the Top 200 as its power level is not high enough to compete up there. It has bad matchups against pretty much everything mainly because its lower power level and how slow it starts compare to other aggresive archetypes.

Heart of Ocean teams seem to be doing okay at around Top 200 to Top 500 as it can farm on slower teams but Topaz is still too fast for Heart of Ocean to handle, and hence it is not the best team to climb above Top 200.

I will not cover the rest of the archetypes as they are relatively low in usage at Top 1000 and there is no significant development from the last report. See Additional Data Dump below for their Runes usage data.
It is exciting to see new innovations and development in the meta as we get close to end of the Season. Metamorphosis and Brutal Claw are two new archetypes that targets Topaz and Jinx - the two most popular archetypes at the Top of the Leaderboard. Even with established archetypes, we see development such as Collect & Protect Square Teeth Jinx.
The state of Axie Infinity: Origins is certainly moving in the right direction with more archetypes being viable and potential for development in existing archetypes. One potential factor that is holding Origins back is the availability of Axies. Topaz and Jinx have such a high usage primarily because those are established archetypes and many Axies available given that they are very well bred. Breeding time could be a big limiting factor in the evolution of the meta in Origins, and it is a shame that not many players can get try out new archetypes as it is limited by Axie availability.
This is a feature of Axie Origins which makes it distinct from other games, so I personally would like this aspect to be there. Perhaps some adjustment can be made to make it more accessible for more players to play different archetypes, but I do not know the Axie Economy enough to make any suggestions without breaking it.
Good luck with the final push in Season 4! If you find this post informative and would like to see more, consider hitting the subscribe button, check out my Youtube channel, and use my lunacian code: maurice for a little support!
