It's an exciting time in the NFT space as the scars of the bear market are slowly healing and the hope for many artists are increasing in line with the crypto prices.
I've been minting my photographer on ETH and Tezos and have recently joined Solana. My first experiences have been great, not only with the ease of using the website but also the low fees compared to ETH and the supportive community there.
After minting and luckily selling a few pieces, I was interested to find out a little more about this corner of the NFT world and who better to ask, than the CEO herself @larisaNFT
1. As a co-founder of Exchange.art what drove you to develop this marketplace on Solana?
Having a deep understanding and passion for art, digital art, technology and web3 was the initial spark. Wanting to develop a marketplace that values fine art and represents some of the same aspects of traditional art galleries, but for the digital art community is what fueled Exchange.art.
We wanted Exchange.art to be a space that values creators’ unique 1/1’s and editioned artwork. We also wanted to be a place where our communities' input was heard and valued and wanted to give artists a place that offered them a personable onboarding experience and a chance to financially prosper as artists.

2. Tell us a little bit more about yourself and what is your background?
I always had a passion and understanding for art, but before joining Exchange.art as a founding team member, I served as a technical business analyst at Eurostar, Dentsu Aegis Network, and JPMorgan Chase & Co.
My past experience of shaping desks and verticals at some leading financial and media companies instilled my data-driven approach to decision making. I feel that my passion for art and prior experience significantly contributed to the rapid growth we’ve seen at Exchange.art since its inception.

3. What makes Exchange.art different to all other NFT marketplaces. How do you set yourselves apart from the others?
Exchange.art is a niche marketplace that caters to 1/1 NFTs, and we have recently seen a surge in interest for this type of marketplace. We have been noticing an influx of new creators to the scene that have varying artistic mediums. What sets Exchange.art apart other than our focus on 1/1’s is our goal to have a thriving creator economy.

4. Can you give us a wrap-up of 2023 and how do you feel about digital art in 2024?
In 2023 the cryptocurrency market experienced its most severe bear market and with it came a gradual decline of Solana and the collective downturn of the NFT market. This led to the permanent closure of numerous NFT marketplaces and really casted a shadow over the Solana ecosystem.
However, Q4 of 2023 things really started to turn around and so far, 2024 seems to be heading on the right track. Exchange.art had a sales boost of over 1000% in just Q4, with December being our highest month in sales since early 2023. January has so far followed in the same tracks as December, reaching over $1.4M and outperforming some of our competitors like Foundation and SupeRare.
Looking ahead, I think 2024 will prove that the 1/1 and editioned marketplaces within the Solana ecosystem are challenging the dominance of the original PFP troupe and that interest in NFTs and the fine art digital market is far from dead.

5. How do you support artists and what do you have planned for the coming year?
We offer creators a very personable approach when it comes to onboarding on Exchange.art and for some, onboarding into the NFT space as newcomers to digital art.
We strive to give creators all the tools possible to thrive. We have made upgrades like becoming multi-chain to give creators more exposure and launched our personal gallery feature which allows creators to showcase their collections in a unique way.
Exchang.art creators like John Le (@notjohnlestudio) made more than $2.2M in total volume and Degen Poet (@solanapoet) generated nearly $1.9M in sales, proving that a financially successful career can be made on @exchgART

6. Are you able to give some information on the upcoming Airdrop?
Stay tuned

I would like to thank Larisa for taking the time out to answer my questions. I hope you enjoyed this little interview and if you didn't know, I also have a few pieces on Solana as well
I would be delighted if you dropped by and had a look. My latest collab with @robwdawkins is also up for grabs. Link is below.
