It’s frustrating how much of Web3 is supposedly “open” yet the data builders actually need — token unlock schedules, VC rounds, vesting progress — is scattered, paywalled, or hidden in PDFs. I experienced this first-hand while working with a DAO treasury: we couldn’t forecast unlock-driven sell pressure because the APIs we relied on didn’t even expose unlock data.
Here’s what we learned, and how we solved it.
Most free APIs (like CoinGecko) are great for surface-level market data — price, market cap, volume.
But DAOs making treasury decisions or builders creating dashboards need more:
When does this token unlock? How much supply is coming online?
Which investors are vested, and when do they exit?
What VC rounds or private deals shaped this project?
Without answers, DAOs end up overexposed to unlock events, and dashboards feel incomplete to users.
We integrated the DropsTab API into our pipeline, which includes endpoints like:
/tokenUnlocks: upcoming unlock events (% and amount)
/fundingRounds & /investors: VC investments & ROI
/coins, /ohlcv: market data
/wallets & /cryptoActivities: on-chain wallets & airdrops
[insert unlock schedule chart of $XYZ token here]
For our DAO dashboard, we created modules that show:
% of supply unlocked in the next 30 days
Top investors & their estimated ROI
Visual warnings on risky unlock days
Data pipeline:
— Daily cron fetches /tokenUnlocks → flags high-risk tokens → updates Notion & dashboard.
— Weekly /fundingRounds check → enriches project due diligence sheets.
Dashboard:
— Built on Dune & internal UI
— DropsTab API feeds directly into charts & tables
— Alert bot posts unlock warnings to DAO Discord
Utility for DAOs:
— Better treasury management
— Transparent tokenomics for community
— Tools for contributors to assess proposals
If you’re a student, indie builder, or DAO contributor, you can join their Builders Program for free access (3+ months) — generous enough for MVPs & dashboards.

Should DAOs make unlock & VC data a core part of their treasury tools?
[ ] Yes — critical for risk management
[ ] No — price & volume are enough
[ ] Unsure — need to see examples
