Is Tesla a Car or Software company?
After having driven the Tesla Model 3 for a few weeks, I can safely say that it should be on the list for everyone who has a driving license.
Not because its a thrilling, fast sports car like a Porsche 911 or that it is ultra luxurious like a Rolls Royce.
But because it is a totally novel driving experience from the usual cars we know and love.
Driving a modern Tesla is like playing a video game.
Literally.
The technology of Tesla, along with its multiple cameras, Tesla Vision, touchscreens, autopilot and ludicrously simple UI makes it a marvelously fun experience.
The 15-inch screen is like an enlarged iPhone.
It has LTE, crispy resolution, great UI and smooth touchscreen capabilities just like an iPhone!

Full spec, remote control gaming in the Tesla anyone?
Remember older car models where the touchscreens were like glass bricks, very inert and takes 5 seconds before it loads?
The onboard computer of a Tesla is intuitive, sleek and most importantly, cool.
Yep, cool.
Its like comparing an iPhone 13 Pro Max with its fancy new OS to a Pentium 3 on a mouldy old CPU.
When you think about it, the game-changer really is the software.
The brilliance of Tesla (or rather Elon), is the reliance (or over-reliance) on its software.
The AI onboard a Tesla is just heads and shoulders above everyone else.
It is as close as what you can get from JARVIS in the real world.
It is like having a powerful brain that is connected to the internet that can be upgraded instantly, whenever you want to.
There’s even the Rainbow Road Cowbell Easter Egg which was so much fun.

Engage the “Rainbow Mario Kart” mode by pressing the Drive stick down 4 times real quick!
Want full self-driving abilities?
Auto-parking?
All these are rolled out by Tesla to even existing models via over the air updates.
You have 20 minutes to burn while sitting comfortably in your Tesla as it charges?
No worries, you can play games, watch Netflix, surf the web, get work done in comfort.
The Tesla team really thought these things out!
Even when the car is parked, you can activate sentry mode, which basically records the surroundings using the exterior cameras.
The apps, sentry mode, autopilot, and essentially everything else can be easily updated wirelessly anywhere, anytime.
That changes the game.
You don’t need to call and schedule and wait to bring in your car to the workshop and plug in proprietary tools just to update something silly.
All the analytics you need are accessible on the touch screen.
So what makes a Tesla truly special?

Tesla’s superpower is its amazing software that compliments the hardware superbly.
Its software.
But that also means that if hacked, the entire car will be at the mercy of the hacker.
Having all the controls and whatnot tied intricately to the software of the car does gives a smooth and powerful experience but it has a trade-off too.
Well, nothing is perfect.
That said, it is really a novel, modern experience of car ownership.
The secret to Tesla is its software and AI tech.
Basically, Tesla isn’t a car company.
It is a AI software company that happens to make really cool cars.
