Allow me to summarise SBF’s amazing journey this year:
SBF was the golden boy of crypto and the savant of trading.
Fortune called him the next Warren Buffett.
Crypto Twitter adored his tweets.
SBF went on stage and sat beside Bill Clinton and Tony Blair wearing a crumpled tee and shorts like a dork in high-school.
He also went on stage and sat beside the gorgeous Gisele Bundchen to talk about “Effective Altruism”.
FTX signed a $130-million deal to put its name and logo on the Miami-Dade County sports arena.
Enjoyed a $30M penthouse in the Bahamas.
“The exchange spent millions on at least 19 properties worth $121 million in the Bahamas, according to Reuters. These included at least seven condominiums worth $72 million and a vacation property in which Bankman-Fried’s parents were listed as signatories.”
SBF wanted to buy Voyager for $1.4B.
Went to war with CZ from Binance and lost.
Got rekt with a tweet from CZ.
FTT started plummeting and FTX was suddenly insolvent.
Tweeted everything was fine.
Then tweeted that he is sorry and he F$$ked up moments later.
FTX filed for bankruptcy.
Got snatched by Bahamian police.
US Gov filed criminal charges and wants him back.
Got thrown in the only jail in the Bahamas, which happens to be the worst and most grotesque one ever.
Decided that he rather face the music in the US then stay another night at Fox Hill.
Signed and got deported back to US almost immediately.
He must have some hell of a lawyer to be able to negotiate for a bail.
The team of lawyers that SBF hired must have been world-class and pulled some powerful strings.
Posted bail for $250M.
Yes Sir, you read that right.
SBF bail was $250M!
“It’s ~8x more than Bernie Madoff, Jordan Belfort, and Suge Knights’ bails … combined”.
It is the largest bail bond in the history of bonds.
See how amazing SBF is?
Setting records even with his bail!
Apparently, you don’t have to pay all $250M, just 10% will do.
So the only people in the world who literally cannot hate him even after all the things he did, his dear parents, posted their Palo Alto home as collateral.
So how amazing is that.
After all the fiasco, SBF is right back at home in California, with full access to the internet, his phone and his favourite game League of Legends!
He is literally back at home, in Palo Alto, with his parents, free to celebrate christmas and do any number of interviews he wishes.
I won’t be surprised if you told me the US agents put him in first class on his flight back, to isolate him from the rest of the passengers and be able to monitor him.
Maybe SBF was really a wonderkid after all.
He really did play everyone like strings on a guitar.
He played the pipe and led the way like the Pied Piper.
And like all the little mice, we followed.
