Kanye west.
Ye.
Yeezys.
It used to mean something.
Fans would line up for days to catch his drops.
The media would blow up talking about Ye.
Wherever he goes, controversy and attention follows.
And to be frank, Ye made it work for his brand and following.
He built a very successful and profitable brand empire from his attitude, style and demeanor.
People don’t follow you just because you are cool.
They follow you because you represent something they can’t have.
They want his flair, his blunt truth and his mojo.
But Ye had to take it to the extreme.

“Though the bipolar rap and fashion mogul hasn’t been stirring up any new trouble in recent weeks, the effects of his 2022 press tour from hell are still reverberating at Adidas, the company that housed his billion-dollar Yeezy sneaker brand. Simply put, it has no idea what to do with all his shoes it can’t sell.”
That is a big problem no?
See in short, Ye made some bad comments that irked everyone.
He actually said “I like Hitler”, amongst other insane things.
Even his long-time fans are disgusted by his words and mentality.
Instead of backing down, he doubled down and went ballistic.
Taunting the media, lambasting his supporters and criticizing his biggest sponsors like Adidas.
Kyrie Irving did the same thing and brands are dropping him like hot potato.
Adidas has nearly $530M worth of Yeezys in their warehouses.
Thats $1.3B worth of revenue that will no longer be realised.
They are in a pickle.

Do they sell them for cheap at discount stores and grey markets in Africa and Mexico?
Ye’s brand is so tarnished and tainted that it might be worthless.
So Ye lost $2B in a day.
His net worth fell to just $400M (that is still a LOT).
Adidas on the other hand, will lose $1.3B in revenue and billions more as their share price tumbles.
Ultimately, who lost more?
In the short and long run, definitely Ye.
He lost his reputation.
That takes a lifetime to rebuild, if any.
Adidas has never been just about Yeezys.
Sure it was an epic collection and Ye had his shiny days.

But the Adidas brand will endure and sustain over the next century if they continue to work hard and do the right things.
Ye, for lack of a better way to put it, is just folding the wings of his plane mid-flight and deliberately crashing it for kicks.
Here’s an idea for Adidas.
They can recycle the “Yeezys” into a new sustainable collection called “Yea” or “Breezys”?
LOL.
Or seriously just risk diluting the already fading brand by selling them cheap in other markets.

Will Kanye’s reputation ever be good again?
